The issue begins with several Baal Torture Experts whipping and beating on Bladehelm – but Bladehelm only returns with sarcastic comments, claiming to feel no pain. The men have no idea what to do since their reputation is on the line and nothing they have done that has broken any ordinary man has been able to break Bladehelm’s will.

Bladehelm makes the comment about if he could see – and that’s when one of the men decides to rip off Bladehelm’s bandage to wound his eyes. Bladehelm screams and falls down fainting. However, he’s clearly feigning the wound as his eyes are open and listening to the guards, who speak of throwing him back down into the pit with the other “Adventurers.”

The men grab Bladehelm and drag him away, unaware that Sultar is near by watching. Picking up the rag that had covered Bladehelm’s eyes – it’s just as it had been planned – the Baal Battle Plan that the Adventurers had come across earlier was now in the hands of Sultar who knew he could use this information to wake up the citizens of Liam to rise against the growing threat of Baal’s soldiers.

In the Temple of Baal in the City of Liam, Priest Muar speaks about creating a diversion so that King Belgur’s men could easily storm the City of Liam – and there’s nothing like a good execution in the city square to draw all the attention of the citizens and guards of Liam – beginning with the execution of the Adventurers!

The scene shifts to Erikor and Relk walking through the streets of Liam. When Relk asks Erikor what they’re doing in a shady portion of Liam’s district, Erikor informs him that they’re there to see one of the Adventurers who isn’t imprisoned. Relk seems doubtful that Sultar could be useful.

It’s Helva that corrects Relk before Erikor does. Entering they see that Helva has something for them – but Relk, who is too tired for these “games” storms out. Helva then turns to Erikor and hands him the Baal Battle Plan. Amazed, Erikor calls for Relk to return. This indeed was just what they needed!

Outside Liam, King Belgur asks the High Priestess of Baal, Sheralya, if Barak can be trusted. Before the question can be answered, Guyrd enters Belgur’s tent, escorted by one of his Baal soldiers. Guyrd asks for his daughter, and Belgur summons Sheralya to get her. She returns with his daughter’s head on a platter.

The scene shifts again to Bladehelm being thrown into the pit with his fellow Adventurers. He lands in the water and Eyamma quickly dives in to rescue him. Pulling him out, Bladehelm reveals that the Baal torturers have fallen for the ruse and that Sultar has taken possession of the Baal battle plans. Bladehelm also thanks Eyamma for the roots that have restored his vision. Behind them, Shadolok apologizes to Nightwind – and explains that everything they have every attained means nothing without her – then the two embrace one another in a passionate, deeply loved, kiss.

The scene shifts again, back to Erikor and Relk speaking with Captain Kuranuk. The Captain seems uninterested in their claims of a Baal attack, as well as being all too happy, while puffing away at his smoke, that the Adventurers are scheduled for execution.

The scene shifts to Coron – who, like in Life, now in Death, once again walks the Grey Road of his Master, Accuris. In his Death Walk he sees Accuris appear before him, taking up all of the Cosmos of the Grey Road. Accuris speaks to him, “You have not failed and neither is your journey over; many more souls will you send to me for your journey, Coron, my son, has only just begun.”

At the gathering in the City of Ur – Coron’s body warms as he hears Thanatos speak about striking Coron’s name forever from the lips and minds of all those present – and all of them shall spread the word. When Thanatos goes to burn Coron – Coron suddenly sits up and grabs the torch and says, “No, Thanatos, it is your name that shall be stricken from the lips and minds and history of the world!” And he burns Thanatos alive, standing victoriously over him, proclaiming himself; Coron, son of Accuris!
