The issue opens up showing that Guyrd not only lost his daughter recently; but the ordeal has cost him his mind. He watches, standing among Baal Soldiers – the very men who decapitated his daughter and handed her head on a platter to him! – as they sit in waiting for an approaching caravan to draw closer.

The Baal Soldiers wait for the right time, led by Barak and King Belgur, before being attacked and seized – the riders and owners of the caravan slaughtered without a second thought, no mercy given.

The scene shifts and we see Priest Muar going over the plans; when darkness falls the “Adventurers” will be executed; at that moment the Death Wing Squadron of Baal will move in on the front gate; those still loyal to the City of Liam will be slaughtered; Kierafus is appointed to deal with the Merchant Association; Anivar and his men will control the crowd; and in seconds following the City of Liam should fall easily to the forces of Baal!

The scene shifts to the City of Ur where Coron is adorned in a mixture of armor and robes. He thanks Heresim for the armor that he has crafted, and has Raspil report on the shock troops of Ur and their status as well. Raspil fills him in on the status of the armor for the shock troops as well as informing Coron that the League of Torturers shall join their ranks as an Auxiliary Force.

Coron is pleased and goes to Thanatos’ former office and claims the Raven of Sheol, the Sceptre of Irak VII and the Dagger of Thanatos. He then pays Kerrin the Butcher a visit; Kerrin who is shackled and made to suffer in pain. Coron abuses Kerrin somewhat before pointing out a harness that has been made especially for Kerrin, to carry Coron on his back!

The scene shifts to the City of Liam where Priest Muar gets ready for the execution of the “Adventurers.” One of the Prison Guards informs Priest Muar that the captives are ready and Armasian tells him to hurry and get them before the light of day is gone. Priest Muar begins reading off a list of false accusations against the “Adventurers” to ensure the crowd sways in his favor. The crowd begins chanting “Guilty!” as Erikor and Relk quickly try to make their way to the stage. In the meantime Eyamma manages to free himself of the chains and has Nightwind move close, so that he can help free her; with the others unaware.

Erikor and Relk managed to reach the stage just before they prepare to execute Shadolok. The people shout that they are High Councilors and deserve the chance to speak. Erikor begins explaining that all that Priest Muar says is a lie. Priest Muar strikes Erikor and as Relk moves forward, he finds himself at the end of several sharp spears. Helva tells Sultar that it’s now or never.

Sultar shouts about how he has infiltrated the Baal Temple in Liam and that he is aware of their plans – and that all that Priest Muar says of the Adventurers is nothing but a lie to cover up an attack by the Baal Army just outside Liam’s gates. He shows the Baal battle plan. When Priest Muar orders to attack Sultar, Sultar unleashes the power of Oneida and burns Priest Muar.

This causes the distraction for Eyamma, Nightwind and Bladehelm – all of whom had freed themselves of their shackles – to help free Shadolok. Once Shadolok is freed and given a sword, they begin rebelling against the inner forces of Baal.

Outside King Belgur summons his men for the charge against Liam.
