The issue opens up with Accuris meeting with Baal to stand in front of a chessboard with the world of Anoria below it. Initially Baal refuses to have any part of it, saying that the Path of Men can find their own way. Accuris then mentions that the Grail of Darkness is once again in play; and that brings Baal to the board.

Coron, at the same time strikes a deal with Belgur that when Liam falls – all lands to the west shall go to Ur and all lands to the east shall go to King Belgur’s forces. Belgur agrees and together, unites his forces with those of Ur.

On the city walls of Liam, they realize that this is the end. Even with Sultar’s power, it is not an infinite source. Everyone takes their positions regardless, ready to meet their ends as they have lived their lives – heroes.

Even as the Forces of Baal slam into the walls of Liam, they’re surprised to see that none of those in Liam have broke rank and fled against the vast numbers that stand to mow over them.

Coron commands the Forces of Ur to wait, and allow the Forces of Baal to waste their lives, while they bring in the siege engines. With the power of the Ur Siege Engines, the walls of Liam begin to crumble – but still the men who fight for Liam, press on, ever strong.

As the wall crumbles, Bladehelm makes the call to unleash Sultar’s power. However, the Forces of Ur are all too ready – familiar with Sultar’s power – and have flame retardant suits to handle the searing flames. But Bladehelm strikes at those who have the suits, subjecting them to Sultar’s flame. Unfortunately, he subjects himself to the flame as well as falls.

Eyamma reaches Bladehelm who recovers quickly, his blood pumping with the war at hand.

Barak and Shadolok meet on the field once more – this time for the last time. They exchange blows, both of their bodies broken and worn from the days of battle – but it’s Shadolok who pulls out the victory in the end, shoving his blade through Barak and wishing him a trip to hell.

But King Belgur strikes Shadolok from the back; and Shadolok survives only because he saw him at the last moment. Relk steps in before King Belgur can deliver the final blow to the stunned Shadolok, knowing without their leader, the rest of Liam shall fall easily.

King Belgur easily dispatches Relk, cutting his stomach open. Nightwind grabs Shadolok and forces him to retreat to Tarrus’ Tower. They are few now, and realize their only hope is Sultar.

Elsewhere, Sultar’s attack position is raided by Coron and men wearing the flame retardant suits. Sultar is quickly over taken and grovels for his life. Coron agrees to spare Sultar if he will use his power to break through Tarrus’ Tower. Sultar agrees, only wanting to live. Taken to the tower, Sultar suddenly realizes he can not betray those whom have befriended him – perhaps the only people to ever truly befriend him in life.

With the words, “It must not be…” Sultar uses his power – but not against Tarrus’ Tower; but against the Forces of Ur who have captured him. The explosion is massive – destroying the Forces of Ur and Baal, all who stand ready – until that moment – to take Tarrus’ Tower.

The few who had laid siege to Liam and survived the explosion fled quickly to the mountains to regroup. But with their forces decimated, King Belgur and Coron realized they would have to rebuild – and they would strike again, very soon. However, this buys time for word to reach Pandona about Liam’s siege as Erikor had said; building a larger resistance force against Belgur and Coron’s forces.

With Liam in shambles, Belgur and Coron, both who survived the explosion of Liam due to their magical forces at work – rebuilt their armies and turned their attention to Pandona. Much to their surprise – when they arrived they would meet with resistance all too familiar to them – Shadolok, Nightwind, Bladehelm, Eyamma – and a fresh army ready to do battle against the would be conquerors.
