This issue begins with Coron explaining the plan to enter the Crimson Giant’s trading post – that Dhakab and Bladehelm are the guards; Sultar and Argent are the hard working merchants; and Coron himself, is just a simple priest looking for converts.

They are questioned at the gate, but finally gain entrance with Argent claiming to be Bolo, the replacement for the Vraid Brothers. After some pressure from the Crimson Giants, Argent explains that everything in the wagon is only half a silver. During all the chaos, Coron makes his way to another giant and explains he will pay gold for a slave to be sacrificed, at the giant’s choosing. The giant takes Coron up on his offer and leads him to the slave pens where there is a sickly slave. Coron pays the giant, but as soon as the giant pours the coins out, he doubles over. Coron explains that the coins were coated in a nerve toxin. Coron then opens the gates to the slave pens and explains that their only chance of escape is rushing the gates.

The scene shifts to Shadolok and Nightwind under attack by a giant, who is angered. A close call from the giant’s club knocks Shadolok off of his feet. The giant raises his club to deliver the killing blow but is distracted by Nightwind, who lands a dagger in his back. While the dagger does little in terms of cutting – it is laced with the venom of the Crypt-Spider, and proves to be a lethal dose, even for a giant.

Outside, the slaves follow Coron to the surface and make a break for the gates. Chaos erupts as the giants try to stop their slaves from escaping. One of the giants grabs Sultar and suddenly finds himself engulfed in a massive flame, and it becomes clear that there is far more to both Sultar and his power over the flame.

Seeing this, Dhakab leaves to help Shadolok and Nightwind. Trained and raised by the Tribe of Elsis, he manages to run through a wall of flame and land unharmed. Confronted by two giants, he throws one of his swords with deadly accuracy into the throat of the giant. The other giant tries to strike at him with its giant spear, but Dhakab breaks the head of the spear with his foot when it misses, and uses it to plunge into the giant, killing it.

The scene shifts again to Nightwind and Shadolok. Shadolok is almost crushed, and warned last minute by Nightwind. She explains that danger sharpens the mind and that the treasure he was carrying was clouding his. They come upon with the giant who wears the key around its neck. The giant strikes with its blade and misses; but Shadolok and Nightwind do not. However, there is little time to capitalize when Shadolok is struck and rendered unconscious. The giant seems ready to kill Nightwind, when suddenly it feels a sharp pain – then nothing, as it falls over dead, killed by Dhakab’s timely arrival. They take the key and make their way to the surface, where they’re greeted by the others.

The scene shifts to the Temple of Accuris in the City of Ur, where Thanatos XXIX contacts Belgur, the Mouth of Baal. They confirm the deal that they have with Tarrus One-Eyed, but another scene shift shows that Tarrus One-Eyed has no intention of honoring such a deal.
