Warriors #4

This issue is split into three stories, focusing on: Shadolok, Nightwind, and Coron.

The first story focuses on Shadolok, just after Tarrus was killed (in the first Book of The Adventurers). The story begins with Shadolok and Bladehelm riding on horse back, singing songs of merriment. Bladehelm leaps from the horse when they reach Amarath. Shadolok asks if Bladehelm would like to come with him to go see his half-brother, Richard (see Warriors #2 for details). Bladehelm explains that he’d rather not, because he might drop his axe through Richard’s head. Shadolok explains that it was a long time ago, and things worked out for the best, because Shadolok values his freedom over everything else.

When Shadolok arrives home, his half-brother, Richard, is surprised to see him and immediately goes on the defensive, believing that Shadolok has returned home to claim the inheritance, their father having died. Shadolok explains that, that is not the case at all; having come into more than enough riches after the defeat of Tarrus One Eye. Richard asks Shadolok to come with him, and he gives him a drink, rendering Shadolok unconscious.

Shadolok regains consciousness and finds himself in the dungeon, being tortured. However, the torturer explains that Shadolok won’t break as time passes by. Richard recalls how much Shadolok enjoys his freedom; and devises a new plan. Richard makes a deal with the Priests of Baal, who take Shadolok to enslave him in the mines.

The second story focuses on Coron. It begins in the land of Amarath, in the city of Lydia, Coron walks the streets, looking for a man named Lorret. Coron finds him, and asks Lorret to explain his dreams. Lorret explains that Accuris has come to him, in visions, as he’s dying. However, the entire thing seems to be a set up as a man attempts to strangle Coron, while enthralled by Lorret’s story. Coron however, draws a dagger and slays his attacker then attacks Lorret, realizing this had all been a set up. Lorret explains that his wife and kids had been victims where Priests of Accuris overran Lemora. Coron does not kill Lorret saying that the disease Lorret suffers from will kill him slowly.

The final story follows Nightwind, while she’s out in the wild. A pair of hunters who had been chasing a wolf that had killed some of their livestock. They strike a poisoned arrow into the wolf, and as they go to make another shot, the arrow is suddenly pulled by the man’s hands and they see that it’s Nightwind who explains that the wolf is under her protection. In the wolf’s den she removes the arrow and extracts the poison; but the wolf is weary of her. She realizes that she and the wolf are a lot alike; they’re both hunters who rely on instinct. She accepts this, and she and the wolf part ways.
