Deep in the woods of Dìomhair, few dared travel, because the woods were full of animals and even plants that could devour the unwary. But here, among such animals and plants, was the only place that Wyldsyde Thunderthorn seemed to find any form of peace.

Wyldsyde Thunderthorn spent his time in insolation and this allowed his spirit to seemingly travel the world beyond his mortal body, his mind reaching new heights. He had a vision of a temple buried beneath the sea – but the sea had been made of endless waves of sand. Within the temple, an orb, that held magic, long forgotten. A sacrifice.

Then the “White Light Event” – which released the magic into the world, bestowing all who witnessed it with magic that had for so long been a prisoner of the orb. But there was something dark that hid within the “White Light” – a shadow that had whispered to Wyldsyde.

Since then, finding his center, his peace – seemed nearly impossible. What would normally allow him to detach and find his center was no marred by a black, liquid shadow that whispered to him, invoking bloodthirsty thoughts he had sought so desperately to subdue.

He reached out to his Elder, the Maighstir, for council. Though he, as Firbolg was solitary, they had always met with the twin moons were full, because there were nine others who called the forest of Dìomhair their home. Wyldsyde explained the vision he had had after the White Light event and explained how he’d seen a buried temple. He had wanted to go and find this temple and see why it seemed to call out to him, to find out what this vision had meant. The Maighstir placed her hand on Wyldsyde’s shoulder and smiled, “I had a vision that you would come to me with this request.” She kissed him gently on the cheek. “You will need to seek the company of others. The world beyond Dìomhair is dangerous – and where you go to find this temple even more dangerous. Travel to Moontide Port and book passage to the new continent and find the answers that await you.”

Wyldsyde thanked the Maighstir and departed Dìomhair. As the forest faded from his view, as he glanced over his shoulder, he took a deep breath and looked forward after that – never looking back. He found several other travelers who seemed to be going to Moontide Port, all of them speaking of this new continent and these relics that had been surfacing. He stayed with them and booked passage aboard the crowded Alpha Dawn.

Want to help? Consider becoming a Patreon.
