King's Quest 8: Mask of Eternity Walkthru

KINGDOM OF DAVENTRY
Enter house. If your health (red bar) is low, you can drink from kettle near fire. Get mushrooms on the table. Get the potion on the shelf. Exit house, go right, get mushrooms from ground. Walk to the other side of the house and punch goblin (click on weapon - fist, then click on goblin). Take any items he drops. Walk to the back of the house and take coins. Return to front of the house and click on the raven on the statue of Sarah. Turn right and go to your house. Punch bull's eye until green bar increases. Enter alcove and punch other target. Go to front door, taking mushrooms on the way. Enter house and go to the back room. Take dagger from table. You can drink from kettle if red bar is low. On the shelf, open jar and take coins. Exit house, click on dagger and kill goblin. Walk to the fence across from the front door of the house and click on the raven. Follow the path south and turn west. Run down the path (Spriggan's will shoot at you). Run straight to wizard and kill goblin. Talk to wizard, he'll give you a magic map. You can see which direction you're heading by looking at the arrow on the map on the lower bar. Go east and near the top of the hill turn right to the cliff. SAVE. Go to the end of the cliff, hit F2 to change views and line up the corners of the roof and cliff. Back up as much as possible and take a running jump to get to the roof. Get your dagger ready and go to the edge of the roof and jump off. Take the crossbow and anything else he drops. Run to the road, avoiding zombies.

Go north to the farmhouse, enter. Take mushrooms on table. On the right of the bed, take boots. Take coins from shelf and open chest on shelf to take more coins, exit house. Go around the house to the right and kill monsters and take dropped items. Return to front of house and go to shed across road. Eat hanging food to increase health. Take mushrooms. Go north to the fountain, drink to increase health. Go northwest and enter tavern. Go behind counter, get gloves. Take coins from chest on the shelf. Go to the other side of the tavern and up the ramp. Open chest and take crystals. Exit tavern. Go around the side of the tavern and use weapon to open them and take items dropped. Ready your bow and go west, shoot Spriggan (you may have to change to dagger). Cross bridge, walk to intersection. SAVE. Go left and ready your bow. Kill both Spriggans. Enter windmill, kill Spriggan in doorway. Look up to see axe in beam. Push hay bale under axe and jump on it to take axe, jump down. Restore health to full, ready your axe and SAVE. Exit windmill. After sequence, drink amber shield potion and attack Henchman, take what he drops. Return to other side of the bridge, killing monsters when necessary.

Go south, past fountain and take first right. Walk to mill (first building). Take mushrooms near tree. Enter the mill and notice rope and hook. Exit mill and walk left around the building. Use axe on tree, reenter the mill. Jump on milling area. Turn to face opening on balcony and jump up to the balcony, take rope and hook. Exit mill, go north and west back to bridge and cross it, go to intersection and enter house on right. Click on the hobby horse and drawings on table. Take mushrooms on shelf, exit house. Go around the right of the house and ready your axe, open door to outhouse and kill Spriggan. Go northeast and jump over fence. Go left to the waterfall. At the wall, use rope and hook to climb. Walk up to table with bricks and push over bricks, climb back down. Jump in the water and jump on ledge to opening. Go forward to the castle. Follow tunnel and click on the candle at the end of the tunnel. Walk to portrait of King Graham and click on it. Stand directly in front of it and push it, take key. Walk left to passageway. Take ashes on the ground. Continue to throne room, click on statues. Click on magic mirror while it swirls. Exit castle the way you entered. Once in water, go left til water's edge and go north. At the sign, turn right. Kill creatures and take items. Continue east and kill Spriggan with bow. Go to doorway and use axe to break door. Enter and walk to tomb, push tomb to open and take ring from inside, exit. Go right a bit and cross bridge to castle keep. Increase health and ready axe, enter keep. Kill both Spriggans and take items. Climb nearby ramp, kill Spriggan at top to the left. Walk around to the right and kill Spriggan. Return to the ramp, pass it to a second ramp and go up it. Kill Spriggan at the top of the ramp and take leather breastplate and anything else he drops. Go down both ramps. Just to the left of the exit enter a room with a chain and pull chain once, leave room. Go to left and pass exit and enter room with 2 chains, pull each once. Continue down path til you reach two doors. Use key to unlock. Don't enter room. Exit keep, cross bridge and go east through the hills.

Reach pond and do not walk in pond. Talk to creature several times. Go around pond and continue south to Alchemist. Use axe to break boards covering door, open door and enter. Take scroll and in inventory left click on it to see ingredients needed. Go to shelf, take elixir and potion, exit. Return to church - it's located at the bottom area of the map in the center. At the front door, use rope and hook to climb up. Walk to back of hole in roof and use rope and hook to climb in church. Take candle on table. Go to the altar and push urn. Return to first room and place coins in offering box by door. Exit church the way you entered. Go around to the mausoleum and enter (kill zombies on the way). Step into the portal and watch the sequence. Exit mausoleum and go around to the front of the church and talk to the wizard by the lake. Give him candle, ring and ashes. Enter lake and go west to the island. Walk a bit to the right until the rope and hook icon appears and climb up. Enter house, take potion under table. Walk to the open book and take the quill. Take parchment after the quill writes on it. Turn around and walk to spinning globe by door. Use parchment on globe, take potion. Return to the open book and use red potion of reveal. A chest appears to the right of the book stand. Open it and take silver bell. Exit house and climb down. Walk to small structure and put bell on it. Use axe to ring it 3 times. Click on lady that appears to receive sword. Swim back and return to portal in mausoleum and enter it.

DIMENSION OF DEATH
Turn completely around and copy the 5 symbols over the portal door. Turn around and save. Ready sword. Walk forward and kill skeletons, take items. Don't pick up sword as it's a lower weapon then yours, but if you do, pick up yours. Walk left around building and up to pedestal with spinning lever. Read pedestal and take lever. Back on each side of the doorway are 4 flames with blue pedestals. Insert the lever into each flame pedestal to open the door. Enter building. Turn right, jump 3 times. Turn left to see first symbol from over the portal. Walk onto it. Turn and find 2nd symbol and continue until you reach Lord Azriel. Talk with him until he sends you to the entryway. Walk around building past the pedestal where the spinning lever was. Either walk around or break boxes with sword to get to dead soldier. In some boxes are monsters, others mushrooms, potions, etc. Take the broken piece of shield. Stay off of the red floored area. Explore the entryway. Kill remaining skeletons. In southeast and southwest corners are pedestals, read them. Go back around the building and to the gate. Shoot skeletons with bow. Use Azriel's key on the gate. Enter and break boxes (and urns later) for items. Walk west to a switch on the left wall, ensure it's down. Continue following along the left wall. Shoot urns on the platform to break then jump up to get items. Flip the switch down. Jump down, walk south to wall and turn west. Continue along the left wall until you meet zombies and skeletons. Kill them. Go north and follow the left wall to the a large room. In each corner is a large metal crate, push each to release lever underneath. Near northwest crate is a rock, take it. Go to the fountain in the center of the room and talk to Sylph. Drink from fountain if health is low.

Go south to the passage just left of the tower. Go left, enter room, kill monsters, smash boxes, take items. Exit and go forward to metal crate. Turn around and back flip onto the crate and enter the room. Break boxes, take items. Talk to girl. Push metal crate to exit room. Go north toward the fountain and west to the wall. Go north and kill skeletons. Continue north to River of Death, don't touch water. Dip shield in water. Enter boathouse and talk to boatman several times. Exit boathouse. Turn slightly left and enter room. Shoot Weeper with crossbow. Read pedestal. Exit, ready sword and walk east along river bank, killing zombies. At wall, turn south and stay along the left wall. Kill skeletons. Pass gate and take second left. Bust urns, take items, kill monsters. Exit, go south to wall and turn east. Walk to wall and turn south to the second left and take rock. At east wall, go north to wall and turn right and pull switch down. Continue to wall and walk south to wall then east to wall. Turn south and take next right and go west. Follow path to tower. Walk up until climb arrow appears. Fill health, go in run mode, SAVE. Climb up and kill Commander Skeleton. He's tough, it's easiest to push him over edge. You might want to use shield potion before combat. Climb down and take chain mail. Return down the path. At the end of the path, turn right. Kill skeletons, open box and take key. Go west to wall, south to wall, west to wall, south to wall, west to wall and slightly south to a locked door. SAVE. Fill health and use key on door. Kill six skeletons. Might try backing up and using bow. Take items and key. Exit, turn right and go north up the corridor. Talk to man. Continue left around the corner and take rock. Continue on path, shoot weeper. Walk north and east, kill skeleton. Continue down path and kill more skeletons. Continue north up passage.

At the Central Tower, kill zombies, climb tower. Read pedestal and walk across bridge. Just north of ramp is a rock, take it. Return over the bridge and down the tower. Place a rock on each pressure plate. Go back down winding path and continue south. Return to large room with fountain (it's just a bit to the left on the map). Drink from fountain to restore health. Walk to the northwest shrine, the Hall of Respite. Ready bow, SAVE. Enter portal. Move forward, turn left and kill skeletons. Jump on lower than taller block. SAVE. Move back all the way on the block and do a running jump across the river. Take potion from statue. Walk to left case of skulls and take the skull on the bottom shelf, seventh from left. Turn right and push over column with the crack in it. Jump on the column. SAVE. Take a running jump across the river, leave room through portal. Walk to northeast portal, the Hall of War. Get out crossbow. SAVE. Go through portal, move forward, turn right, shoot skeleton, turn left shoot skeleton. Move to bridge. Get on right railing and cross river, when you come to gap in railing, do a standing jump across and continue to other side. Take potion from the anvil. Put skull on the headless statue, take feather. Return over the river the same way, exit portal. Go to the southwest portal, the Hall of Immortality. Get red potion and exit portal. Go to the southeast portal, the Hall of Justice. Take green potion. Put feather on the scale and then move forward to step on other side of scale. Move forward to get off scale, and forward to exit portal.

Walk to west wall of the fountain room. Go north to the boathouse. Walk east along the river to the wall, turn south. Bear left around the north central structure, east past the gate and take next left. Go north to river and turn east, walk to wall. Turn south, take first right passageway. Continue to end and take mushrooms and green mold. Return to fountain room. Give Sylph the rusty shield piece and the green mold. Walk to the west wall, go north to wall, turn east. Ready crossbow. Go through passageway slightly to the right. Kill Weeper. Use circular gold key on the double doors. Ready crossbow, kill skeletons, open boxes and kill those skeletons. Walk to east wall, flip down all four switches. Go east to jails and kill Weepers in cells and skeleton guards. There are eight cells on each side, walk to end of jail cells. After all is dead return to switch room. Walk to south wall, pull down all switches, walk to west wall, flip second switch, go to south wall and pull down all switches, go to west wall and flip third switch, go to south wall and pull all switches, go to west wall and flip fourth switch and go to the south wall and pull all switches. Go back to the cells and take all items, open chests and bust open pots for items. In last cell on the left, pull the lever. Return to switch room. Walk to double doors on west wall, ready your crossbow, drink red potion of reveal, shoot skeleton, move forward. Notice pattern of ghost guards. Walk to them, SAVE. At long interval, run past the guards, drink sacred water to heal. Take hammer, exit room and exit switch room. Turn right, take first left and follow the path to the tower. Walk around tower until you get a climbing spot and climb. Walk around on ledge to a different climbing spot and climb up to top. Walk around ledge and take potions, climb all the way down. Return to fountain room. Go to the central tower and get the rocks you placed earlier. Go north to the gate. SAVE. Go through gate and kill skeletons. Take items and sword. Go left of the steps and throw hammer at lever across the river. Cross bridge and go through portal.

THE SWAMP
Stay out of the poisonous light green water and watch out for critters. Go west to the oracle tree. Talk to it. Give it a coin to get a clue, repeat until he has no more clues. Go southwest to two shacks, enter first. Open truck and take gold, get metal gloves on shelf. Exit and enter other shack with your sword. Open chest and take gold, enter inner room with sword, take horn and gold from chest. Return towards the oracle and go southeast to the whispering weeds. Go towards them, if they disappear, back up. Use horn to hear about mask piece. Return to just north of the portal entrance, to the mushroom cove. Take small mushrooms, go to back of cove and get a golden mushroom piece with your sword. Go north to the Mandragor Trees, try to stay away from them. Go around the left to the tree in the back of the grove with the corpse hanging from it. Take the crossbow and leave grove. Go to northwest of swamp to the wisps, avoid snake plants. Click on moving lights, that's the wisps. Talk to them. Talk to them again. Take flower to eat it. Go to the center south of the map, to the witch's tower. SAVE. She's on the south side, kill her with sword. Go to gate door, look through to sandbags, use crossbow to shoot them. Enter tower. Enter left room and take rocks. Go to the right room, get horn from goblin's back. Click on cauldron. Click on book on pedestal. Click on cauldron again. Go to the ramp in this room. Use sword on the arrow traps to set them off before walking up. Open barrels and take stuff. Get crystals on balcony. At bottom of next ramp, drop a rock to set off trap, go up ramp. Go east and take chain mail. Turn around, walk forward and open chest to take mask piece, kill henchman, take his arm. Leave tower and go to tower in central west region of the map.

Climb up twice to get to top, use wall sides. Walk to the door, use henchman's arm on handprint. SAVE. Turn slightly to jump in the proper direction, you want to go: ne, ne, n, w, nw, sw, w, nw, ne, ne, ne. Kill fiends, take ladle from chest. Pull both chain handles. Pull the switch in the box by the door. Return straight across. Climb down and return to witch's tower. Go to cauldron and use ladle on it. Don't enter whirlpool. Go to the teleport tower, climb up scaffold and return to Daventry. Go east to unicorn and return the horn to her. Return to teleport and to the swamp. Go to the whirlpool and go in.

UNDERGROUND REALM OF THE GNOMES
Break all barrels for items and look out for rocks. Put rock on pressure plate, go through door. Go east, kill rock demon, follow path to end, talk to gnome. Go back past the main door and go west. Take first left and go down ramp, follow path to end, talk to gnome. Turn right and open door. Buy best armor you can afford, put on item then give coins to shopkeeper to buy. Exit shop, go left, go north at first right. Continue on ramp, kill critter, go under ramp for goodies. Go back and continue up ramp. Go west and enter the first corridor right. Go down stairs and go east. Kill zombies, cross bridge, continue on path, talk to old man. Use sword on crystal to take. Get potion, return across bridge, up steps (may have to jump), at the top go right and right again. Jump across open pit when you come to it. Continue on path, use sword on amber glowie stuff on the wall to take some. Return back and take first corridor north to teleporter (don't teleport). Go back towards main door to the top of the big ramp. Go west, pass the pressure plate room and kill rock beast and enter weapon shop. Buy the best you can afford to replace either sword or crossbow or both. Make sure you still have 250 gold left. Exit shop, go east and return to pressure plate room. Put rocks on the plates (left first) and cross bridge. Follow corridor and take first left. Enter apothecary, buy any needed items if you have extra money. Click on the statue on the right. Exit shop, go up ramp, turn left, use weapon to break lock, take lock. Open door and kill spriggan. Continue north, take first left. SAVE. Walk up to boulder and when it's safe, pass it, continue and kill rock guard at the end. Enter door and talk to gnome. Exit back through boulders. Go to double intersection and go north. Go west and down ramp, continue bast stone beasts. Take first right enter room to wall, look up, use hook to climb up. Go to intersection and go left to big room. Cut off a tree root and return back down the cliff. Continue south, go east, go up ramp and go east past pair of stone beasts. Go south to wall and climb up. Follow passage to room with large boulder. Push it into hole in floor, jump through hole and push boulder til it breaks wall. Enter doorway (wallway) and place crystal in light fixture on left wall. Follow path to dragon wyrm, kill it. Get diamond. Go to inner room. Click purple crystal diamond switch. Take the crystal pyramid. Place purple crystal from unicorn on pedestal and press purple crystal again. Take purple crystal and black lodestone. Go back to the gnome sage on the west central area of map, give him lodestone. Return to apothecary (has red plus sign on it). Give her amber glow, tree root and iron lock. Click 250 gold on the statue, return change to inventory. Exit and go to teleport room and teleport to the barrens.

THE BARREN REGION
Shoot all the ants. Go west, get crystals. Cross bridge, follow path north to huts, enter first (weapon shop) buy better weapons if you can afford it. Exit and enter other hut, talk to shaman, buy health potions if needed. Exit hut and walk behind it, go up ramp between stone pillars. Go around second ramp to bridge and cross, enter open sanctuary talk to guy with horn. Enter room next door, talk to blacksmith. Exit building and go down ramp. Go northwest along lava to broken stone bridge. Blocks will sink until they become metal. SAVE. Jump n, nw, nw, n, n, se, e, e, e, e, sw, s, s, w, w, w, nw, nw, ne, e, e, e, ne, s, sw. Move to row and cross bridge. Avoid geysers and move northeast along hill, turn north up incline. Go up ramp to stone pyramid, take gem. Return down and go east past lava geysers, continue through mountain pass to a bridge. Ready crossbow and jump from piece to piece til you arrive at wall, climb wall. Move forward to platform. Number the gongs from left to right 1 to 7. Hit gongs with crossbow in this order: 4, 2, 7, 5, 1, 3, 6. Take stone and return it to the sanctuary, place it on the pedestal. Enter blacksmith and talk to guy. Return to weaponsmith and give him metal shaft and black diamond, then 10 gold. Exit and go south, cross bridge. Go to south central area of map to the Basilisk Lair. Go up the slope and bear left to blocks in lava. Jump across blocks to tallest block and then climb up wall. Ready the diamond pike and turn around and move forward. Kill Basilisk. Ready crossbow, turn and cross bridge. Go to right side of temple and climb up, go to hole in ceiling and climb down. Click on dwarf. Take granite key. Click squares on wall for potions. Push blocks on sarcophagus in this order: crescent, triangle, circle, square. Get long sword from sarcophagus. Enter inner room, get potion from square in wall and get suit of armor. Exit temple by climbing, return to Basilisk and use sword to get it's tongue. Pass the Basilisk and walk up the hill. Go right at the fork. Walk north, then west until you see a tree by a narrow strip of land, walk there, turn left. Kill guards, take items and arrow. Find lock in wall and use granite key. Follow the walkway. Shoot the 3 buttons on the wall to extend ramps. Take left ramp, press lever. Follow girl through doorway. Kill dwarf, click on panels on wall: crescent, triangle, circle, square, take pipe from safe. Exit room, enter first cell, take pipe, return to ramps. Take middle ramp, open chest for mask piece, kill henchman. Return and cross right ramp. Put a pipe cap on one of the pipes, stand on platform, turn around and shoot button on wall. Take potion and scepter. Stand on platform and shoot button on wall. Place other pipe cap on other pipe and shoot button on wall.

FROZEN REACHES
Move forward and enter castle, talk to queen. Give her scepter. Exit castle, take right path. Use scepter on dragon. Look up at hanging chain. Push box under chain, jump (back flip jump) onto box and pull chain. Jump down and use scepter on dragon. SAVE. Go nw up path. Bear right along cliff. Continue uphill and east through a narrow pass. Turn left and run up the ramp, turn around and kill the guards on the hill. Go up ramp, take their crossbow. Climb wall of tower. Go to balcony and press lever. Jump into trapdoor. Break barrels. Open chest. Pull lever to open door, exit and go down ramp. Follow east path. Continue northeast up trail until you hear something snoring. Drink reveal potion and kill beast. Walk to pond, step on it til receive message then back up. Throw rock on pond, pick rock up, repeat til rock sinks. Use fire gem on pond, take sword. Return down path past the tower and go north to big ramp, go up it to lake. Shoot guards. Turn right and enter building, break barrels. Walk around lake (either side). Go to back of tower, climb. Walk to grate in center. Move forward to jail. Talk to king. Turn around, walk to lever while looking at chair, press lever. Go to small balcony and move forward. Get potion and key. Return to back of tower and climb up, return to jail, use key to free king. Return to grate and fall in, kill guard. Open chest, take amulet. Get ice shard. Look in barred room, look at slot by door. Open the front door. Put ice shard in door gap, use flame sword, then ice bow on it, get ice block. Use it on barred room slot. Enter room. Kill henchman. Exit building and return to dragon. Use ice scepter to ride.

Go south, then west to Gryph cave. Walk past guards, talk to king. Return to dragon and fly across. Return to the tower with the chair. Place on the chair: blue adamant from Gryph king, Basilisk tongue and slice of golden mushroom. Pull lever. Climb down and go to west side of tower, walk west through crevices. Follow trail and go south until the west watchtower is on your right. Enter tower, break barrels. Exit, go south and take first right, go to pillar. Use amulet on the pillar. Continue to wall, look up. Climb up. Ready sword and SAVE. Move forward to drake and slice off both heads. Pass drake and jump down hole behind it, walk down tunnel and enter new region.

PARADISE LOST
Walk to north area and up to altar in the stonehenge. Place bright crystal on the pyramid.

REALM OF THE SUN LEVEL 1
Break all urns. Go south and enter room of water. Walk around sides til you can climb up and climb up. Break urn and take medallion. Climb down and leave room. Turn north and take first left. Go west to room. Open wall panels for potions. Exit room to the north hug the left wall til you arrive in room of statues. Take tablet and look at it. Exit north to wall, east to wall, north to wall, east to wall, south to wall, east to wall, south to room, go east and take second north to room. Open panels for potions. Talk to Archon. Enter Hall of Truth and enter room on left. Walk straight off the edge to the monster, take key. Exit hall and go south through room with panels, in the next room go left. Hug left wall to gold door, use key to open. Get sword and shield. Exit, go north to panel room, left of block and go left. Go west, north, west, north, west, north, west, north. At gold doors, use tablet on door. Open panel for potion, go through door.

REALM OF THE SUN LEVEL 2
SAVE. Go north to room and exit on left. Go west to wall, north to wall, west to wall and north. Take next left to room with urns in alcoves. Break urns. Look for unlit candle, it may be in room to northeast. Pull candle. From urn room, take southeast exit to wall, south to wall, turn east, take first right. Go south and take next right through now open gold doors. Enter room. Leave room. Go north to wall, east to wall, south to wall, east to wall, zig zag north and take first right. Go east and take first left. Enter large room. Use mask medallion on cauldron. You can now drink water to restore health. Exit room, south to wall, west to wall, south to wall, east to wall, zig zag south to an Archon. Talk to him. Enter Hall of Light. Take the armor. Exit room, go east, south, east, zig zag north and north to wall, west to wall, turn north to door. Use tablet on door and enter.

REALM OF THE SUN LEVEL 3
Go north then east to room. Find gold urn and push it. Take potions from wall panels. Exit room to north, go east to wall, north to wall, east to wall, turn north and take next right. Bear left and talk to Archon. Enter the Hall of Order. You must rearrange the blocks to form the mask image. Push blocks until they're in proper order. Completed image must be in black outline. When you're done, doors will open, enter and take key. Exit Hall of Order and go to room with sunbursts on walls. Exit left and east to wall, south to wall, turn east and take next right, zig zag south, take next left. Make sure health is full, SAVE. Move forward, kill all. Go to gold door, use key, enter room and get chalice. Exit to corridor and zig zag south, go west to gold door, use tablet on door, enter door.

REALM OF THE SUN ALTAR ROOM
SAVE. Click on Archon by door, enter altar room. Talk to Lucreto. Remember to keep taking healing potions and using strength and shield potions. Place a mask piece on the altar, fight Lucreto til he vanishes, heal. Place another piece of mask on altar, fight Lucreto til he vanishes, heal. Place a third piece of mask on altar, fight Lucreto til he vanishes, heal. Place final two pieces on altar and push Lucreto into swirling vortex.
