Belgur

Known Relatives: Brengon (Father, Deceased)
Place of Birth: Baali.
First Appearance: Adventurers Book II #1
History: Belgur, King of Baali, Mouth of Baal on Earth, Lord of the Three Cities, and Keeper of the Glorious Flame, is by far the most successful ruler of Baali in the Age of Heroes. He inherited a decaying empire from his father, Brengon, and turned it into an impressive military power. He accomplished this by first uniting the offices of military dictaro and head of the Church of Baal, thus consolidating his power bases in Baali and Belshazaar. Belgur then conquered and converted the people of the city of Balekir, and finally destroyed the unity of the nomadic people of the plains.

Belgur is a charismatic leader. His victories and the wealth they have brought to his Empire have given him the almost fanatical loyalty of his subjects. His speeches on the evils of the Northerners and their greedy hoarding of food and wealth have stirred the folk of his empire and few doubt that his intent is to one day set forth on a great campaign to conquer the North.

To this end, Belgur has formed a secret alliance with the hierarchy of the Temple of Accuris and their resources are scant compared to that of his own empire, but Belgur knows that he cannot leave his flank open to the opportunistic rules of Ur. His hope is that the improperly trained forces of Ur will take enough casualties in the upcoming campaign to greatly diminish their power. Them, Belgur will order their cities seized.

Belgur seeks the Grail of Darkness to fulfill his dream of total conquest. When he possesses the Grail, he will have a rallying point to begin conquering the North and perhaps he will also gain the magical power of the ancients.
