Note: Anita continued to DM (hooray!) so we assume that Calliope is continuing the tale of the following characters…

  • Kouri Dawnheart – Goliath Monk (Amy)
  • Talarys Hopebringer – Tiefling Paladin (Tawmis)
  • Rurik – Hill Dwarf Cleric (Albert)
  • Seamus McFlurry – Half Orc Sorcerer (David)
  • Keishara Nailo – High Elf Ranger (Jessica)
  • Hillda Blackfoot – Hill Dwarf Rogue (Melinda)
  • Bjorn Hafthor – Human Cleric (Brad)
  • Lady Silverbeard of the Golden Hall – Hill Dwarf Bard (Tawmis)

Calliope continues to weave the story of the heroes she had begun telling as the winter’s chill raged outside the mountain cave.

  • The party, having successfully killed Klarg the Bugbear, found that his room contained an assortment of containers. Investigating the containers and crates, the team made note to come back for them while continuing to explore the cave, still in search of Sildar Hallwinter
  • Proceeding through the cave, the party spots some goblins in a cave, where two prisoners appear tied to the wall. Launching an attack, Talarys is able to attack one, however, Seamus, after launching a spell, draws attention to himself and is hit with arrows that take him down. Rurik is able to rush to his side and stabilize him back to his feet.
  • After earning several cuts and bruises, the party finally manages to defeat the goblins and discover that they’ve found not only Sildar Hallwinter; but another human as well, named Bjorn who was also a cleric.
  • Bjorn, thankful, joins the party as he himself was headed to Phandalin
  • The party escorts Sildar Hallwinter to Phandalin where Sildar tells them that he’s looking for his friend Ianro
  • When asked about the supplies; the party realizes they left it hidden in the bushes; along with the other supplies in the cave
  • The party got a horse and wagon and rode it out and found the goblin cave still to be empty and recovered the items from Klarg’s cavern as well as brought back their original shipment they were meant to bring to Phandalin
  • In Phandalin, as they move about the town, they learn quite a few thing seem to be amiss…
    • Bjorn also learns of some trouble with a Banshee when visiting the Shrine of Luck in Phandalin
    • The party also learns of the troublesome “protectors” of Phandalin – a group called the Redbrands.
    • Seamus also learns of Orc trouble in the lands
    • And there’s also something with the nearby, abandoned, manor
    • Along with several other quests
  • The party decides to rest at the tavern, where they discover that the father of the child that Talarys had punched to stop the bullying had arrived; Talarys tells the others that he will not, as a Paladin, ask the rest of the party to get involved and agrees to face whatever charges lie ahead.
  • Ironically, a female bard named Lady Silverbeard of the Golden Hall, recognizes Talarys and hugs him (taking his gold while she’s at it) and assures him that she will take care of his friends.
    • Note: This came about because when we started playing these characters, we all agreed to play something we were not playing already. So Brad, who missed the previous session when we picked these characters – was told in a text thread we have going that he can not make a fighter, since that’s what he plays in the game I DM for them. So I injected, “No fighter for you!” So Anita said that the only thing she’s ever known me to play was a Paladin; which was true – I had joined her a few sessions at Battlemage Brewery having made a character concept I thought would be fun – a Tiefling Paladin – so he looks evil because of his appearance, but he is the barer of hope. So in that very same thread, it essentially boiled down to them saying I should play a bard; then someone said a dwarf, because of my long beard; so then someone said a female dwarf bard! And so, I rolled up a female dwarf bard, whose main instrument is bagpipes, has a horrid Scottish/Irish accent mixture with pots and pans clanging at her hip. So I worked with Anita to exit Talarys (I swear I will never get to play him!) and brought in Lady Silverbeard of the Golden Hall.
  • The party meets a young boy named Carp who has found an entrance to the manor that he often plays hide and seek in
  • Following the boy, the party crosses paths with several Redbrands who mock Rurik (a fellow Hill Dwarf) and Lady Silverbeard, never one to back down from a fight, provoked a fight with the Redbrands – and the party took quite a few serious hits; but managed to defeat them, hid the bodies and take their cloaks before returning to the Inn to get some rest for the night.
