- As the party speaks to Ossis, ensuring he feels fine (though it’s clear his mind is still slightly fractured from the ordeal he suffered at Lord Brenmoon’s hands; the corruption seems to have indeed been reversed and Ossis once again appears normal)
- Galiena asks if there’s another route down from his cave as they had a very difficult time scaling it; and Ossis explains there isn’t which is exactly why he selected this cave; the waterfall keeps the mountain slick with moisture and the height makes it a difficult wall to scale; he explains like many goats, his lower half as a Satyr is very goat-like and he’s able to scale sheer walls
- Galiena, having focused inwardly last night during her watch, had learned the Polymorph spell and decided, rather than chance scaling down the mountain again, she’d simply Polymorph herself into a hummingbird
- Kavium muttered how that didn’t seem fair and Aros wasn’t too pleased with the idea of trying to scale down the slippery mountain again; his attempt at climbing yesterday (see Session 45) had rattled his confidence
- Aros asks if Ossis knows of a way to cure the boy he had wanted the party to help find and save; and Ossis explains that it appears to be some kind of curse or perhaps lycanthropy effect – and that perhaps, Celan would know how to cure or save the boy. But there was the matter of finding him again, as he’s not been back to the base of the mountain about a week, which was unusual. Prior to this change, the boy had brought food for Ossis every two days and left it at the base of the mountain.
- Aros begins descending down the rope, while Galiena in hummingbird form believes she’s casting Guidance on Aros repeatedly by pecking at him
- Aros initially begins descending down slowly; but once he gets far enough down begins descending more quickly. However, he hears a yell from above, just in time for Kavium, who was coming down next, lands crotch first (while still holding the rope) directly into Aros’ face – sending them both spiraling down the rope very quickly. This happens several more times before Aros finally uses acrobatics to get out of the way, leaping off the rope and grabbing a small rock outcropping, then leaping back onto the rope as Kavium falls roughly 30′ down to the ground, taking damage from the fall, but more concerned about the damage he’d taken to his nether region
- At the bottom of the mountain, the party takes a brief rest to recover some hit points by chewing whistling leaf before making their way back to Caith Mathan’s cave
- The party marches south to Caith Mathan and talk to Celan Gradon about the boy. She explains it could be a curse – again, with Krysinda on the island, she may have promised the boy something and he foolishly didn’t know better – or, with how rampant lycanthropy is on the island, it could be some mutated version of lycanthropy. She would need the boy to know better what it is and see if there is a way to reverse it.
- Aros explains how he has a magical blade that can cure lycanthropy if the person is cut prior to their change; Celan asks if she may keep the blade to study it, to see if it can provide some clue how it’s curing Lycanthropy. With great hesitation, Aros had the blade to her, and draws his ivory hunting blade he’d gotten from the farmers (see Session 37). She promises by the time they capture the boy and bring him to her, she would be done examining the blade’s magical properties to see if it would be of any use.
- (DM Note – Lycanblade has a pretty extensive history! Aros got it when he killed a wererat named Shorkil in Session 2. And it’s been with him since! However, the blade was first seen in The Adventurers Session 45 in possession of a crazy wererat named Dorel Blackblight, who was defeated, but fell into the sewer, the dagger disappearing in the murky depths. Kraun, the Tiefling
RogueBusinessman, who is traveling with the party was then seen using it in The Adventurers Session 75; this is due to his connections to everything that has to do with rogues and the darker side of business that this blade was found and came into his possession. It had been lost under the sewers in Lakefront, which thanks to Ragnaroc – Kraun helped fund the repairs of the entire town back in The Adventurers Session 44. From there, we see that Kraun gives the dagger to his youngest son, Varr, who is headed for Eagle Rock in The Adventurers Session 80. It remains to be seen if the man Shorkil killed in Eagle Rock is indeed Varr, or perhaps someone else who ended up with the dagger…

- Without any idea of where the boy has disappeared to, Kavium mentions, solemnly that Galiena’s third date, Balgun Sternrest (see Session 07), was an Elven Ranger, and may be able to help track the boy down.
- The party takes a long rest in Caith Mathan’s cave before proceeding towards Felhorn. Aros asks if they can stop by Greenhaven – but Galiena and Kavium remind him that the apples are out of season (see Session 34 and Session 35), so they proceed to Felhorn so that Galiena can get her third date to try and help track down the boy; and also so she could reunite with Dearbhán – fearful of the amount of damage her bored fairy dragon may have done.
- Along the long trek, the party takes another rest – and not far away hears the sound of three distinct voices speaking in a language that neither Kavium, Aros or Galiena understand. Kavium urges Aros to scout ahead. Sighing, Aros does so and gets to the edge of a campfire where he sees two bugbears sitting on logs, around a flickering campfire, talking to one another – he notes, their large clubs are at their side, resting against their leg – but there’s no sign of the third voice…
- Just as Aros turns around – he’s struck by a Bugbear Chief (thankfully his Alert feat spared him the additional damage a bugbear does when their target is surprised!)
- The other two bugbears, aware of the trap (having heard Aros approach due to a low stealth check) – spring into action and leap from the brush, weapons drawn and attack Aros as well
- Bleeding profusely, Aros stumbles towards the party and shouts, “Help.”
- Kavium and Galiena leap into action, while Aros with trembling hands, pulls out his Whistling Leaf and before the fight is done, has chewed on all of them
- The fight proves to be quite deadly, however, Galiena’s magic turns the tide and gives the party the victory
- After defeating the bugbears, the party searches them and finds:
- Mace +1 (on the chief), as well as a total of 300 gold
- The party splits the gold three ways: 100 for Aros, Galiena and Kavium each
- Mace +1 (on the chief), as well as a total of 300 gold
- The party uses the bugbear camp as a place to take a long rest
- Galiena and Kavium take the first watch while Aros gets much needed sleep
- During their watch Kavium looks at Galiena and says, “I know our date is about to end and I am not sure after our date ends if we will see each other again. I just need you to know that I’ve learned a lot by being with you. I’ve learned it’s not just about the enjoyment of the intimate moments shared; but it’s about getting to know the person for who they are and seeing the qualities that exist within them. To truly know any pleasure, you should know the person, because it creates a stronger, more intimate bond. Perhaps that’s why Prenah shipwrecked me on this island, and brought you here as well, to show me what truly matters.”
- Galiena is stunned into silence, her cheeks flushing red, “I don’t know what to say,” she finally said, feeling her cheeks burning.
- Kavium ran his hand across her fiery red cheeks and smiled. “You don’t have to say anything, you already have just by the shine of your cheeks.”
- The two walk and talk for several hours, almost forgetting that they’d just fought several bugbears and that their companion was sleeping next to the crackling campfire
- Kavium adds, “I suspect I will truly begin to miss you when we part ways at Felhorn. I understand now how the handsome Ramgor felt when you left with me for our date. You are very special and enchanting and I am thankful for the time we’ve shared. I pray to my goddess that it won’t be the last. Even if it is to only be as friends.”
- Galiena feels as though her cheeks might burn the magical, dark clouds away
- When their shift came to an end, they awoke Aros who could clearly see that there’d been some kind of connection between Kavium and Galiena. She was sitting closer to him and laughing quite a bit. He also noticed when they fell asleep next to the fire, she’d cuddled closer to him and he’d put his arm around over her waist.
- Aros smiled and poked at the fire as ashes danced into the darkened skies
- The following morning the party pressed on, reaching the edge of Felhorn…
