• The dragon’s oozing blood suddenly takes form – and lunges in for an attack! (DM Note – That’s right, this session starts with combat! See Session 38 for the run down on where the party left off last time!)

• While Darko is able to land a Critical Hit on the oozing blood; when Galiena attempts to Faerie Fire the ooze – it quickly seems to understand the spell being cast and merges to the ground, mixing the bloody contents of its body with the mud, avoiding the Faerie Fire spell (DM Note – Just flavoring how it actually successfully made its save to avoid Faerie Fire)
• The dragon blood ooze quickly proves to be dangerous, as it attempts to go for Aros, but then targets Galiena instead, as that’s where Aros went to hide – was behind her – and strikes her hard and manages to grapple her

• Things seem to get progressively worse for Galiena, who finds, despite her best efforts, she can not seem to escape the ooze’s pseudopod as Galiena’s troubles would continue throughout the battle, even as her companions for desperately against the pod…

• Aros throws the Snowball Terrain Changer on the Ooze; so that it becomes difficult terrain
• Kavium comes in and cleaves at the beast – and frees Galiena from the creature’s grasp
• The ooze – continues to attack – and as Kavium moves away – it lashes out and takes Kavium down
• Aros shouts, “You should thank me!”
• “Are you kidding me?” Galiena shouts
• “I thought you didn’t like him?” Aros asks
• “Not romantically!” Galiena shouts, “But I don’t want him dead! He just saved me!”
• The creature then spits towards Galiena and Baldur – however, Galiena fails to save – but thankfully she had the Armor of Aggathas spell up after Kavium saved her – and the damage reflected back is enough to finally down the ooze

• Baldur gathers some of the ooze, as Celan instructed; while Galiena rushes to Kavium’s side and does a Medicine check to stabilize him; and then provides him a potion of healing, bring Kavium back to conscious; so he sits up suddenly and shouts, “Did we win?”
• The party takes a quick camp just inside the cave, so that they can recover some hit dice, before heading over to Caith Mathan’s cave; the entire time back Galiena is scolding Baldur and Aros about using her as a shield
• Once inside, they give the ooze to Celan who begins mixing a number of ingredients that she had Caith gather while they were gone. She warns the party to stand outside the cave and keep an eye out – because as the potion mixes, it will release the essence of the dragon – and if there’s other dragons – which, if what Caith reveals to be true about Razathorn doing experiments on dragons – it will undoubtedly attract unwanted attention if it’s true that none of them can escape the island
• As the party stands outside – it’s not long before Aros spots something against the dark clouds

• It attempts to snatch Baldur; but due to Baldur’s Shield of Faith spell, the shadow dragon creature is unable to hit; and the claw also misses; it then uses its bonus action to misty step away back into the air, where it circles
• Galiena watches as it circles and manages to land Faerie Fire on it – and thankfully this allows Aros to land a critical hit! (Natural 20!)

• The creature zooms down towards the party, and attempts to snatch Aros and ascend, but Aros manages to get out of it, using acrobatics
• Baldur is able to finally finish it off – with the attack of his Dragonshard Spear; and unfortunately the dragons spirals to the ground – and before it’s too late, Aros sees the large shadow over him as the shadow dragon creature crashes into him, causing him damage from the impact
• Celan manages to complete the potion and explains it will save enough six dogs
• The party takes it – and makes their way to Korvask/Fourstone – and speak with Vask – who escorts them to the field where they’ve heard the dogs – the party does animal handling to do the proper whistles (burning a few Inspirations along the way) – and manage to successfully save all six dogs
• The dogs react – seemingly ill – vomiting – but the plant growth infection is visibly dying and falling off the dogs at the same time
• The party decides to once again rest in Vask’s barn in Korvask for the night, to prevent exhaustion and take a successful long rest
• The party heads back to Caith Mathan’s cave the following day – where Caith approaches the party and mentions, his friend John Tallbane approached him while the party was out at Korvask – and explain that John Tallbane is the “mayor” for lack of a better word of this town known as Chalice near the beach – and John Tallbane mentioned that some grey mist fell over the town and things changed… and undead … were everywhere…
• Kavium explains he wants to put the undead down… the others agree to help
• Caith provides instructions on how to get to Chalice…
