Monks were at one time, unique to the continent of Utsukkuen, which was made up of several large islands. Outside of Utsukkuen, the organization and teachings of the Monks did not exist.

However, there came a day when several Monks from Utsukkuen (primarily from the island of Shizukji) who sought to escape the strict imperialism and feuds that came to the islands from other continents in Utsukkuen, set sail for the “world beyond” unsure what their fates might be.

They’d sailed for weeks, enduring countless storms, losing many as the voyage progressed until one night, their ships ran aground in an area just north of the Jagged Port, in a small, desert region.

The surviving members began to gather materials and made a small and modest monastery there, where they could continue practicing their ways. However, as the years progressed, even here – with a new beginning the Order began to experience strife. Some of the members believed the information and powers of channeling the Ki were coming from the Ramonita, the Goddess of Tranquility; while others believed that they were channeling and becoming one with the energies of the world, which produce the Ki energy.

This division of the Order, which had called itself The Old Order, based on the old teachings soon split into two different factions; those who believed the power bestowed upon them was coming from Ramonita and the tranquility offered to her; while others believed it came from channeling the existing energy of the world.

Those that believed that it was from the energies of the world, soon left this monastery in search of their own truth. They dubbed themselves the Ki Seekers and began hearing stories of magical artifacts and tomes of ancient knowledge from a newly discovered continent. Believing that perhaps the truth could be found there, the Ki Seekers made the voyage to the new continent.
