OMEN Character Background:

As a Drow Elf, Omen was born into slavery and immediately torn away from his parents, never knowing who his mother and father were. Like all the Drow of his tribe, they were enslaved by the Mind Rippers. The Mind Rippers had kidnapped Mountain Dwarves, and used their dark magic to change them, and make them slaves known as Duergar. The Duergar were made by the Mind Rippers, by breeding the enslaved dwarves, and using their black magic to create a new race of dwarves. The Duergar, like the Drow Elves, have charcoal colored skin.

As a slave to the Mind Rippers, Omen was beat and broken, forced to use his natural magical abilities to try and identify and determine various magical items that the Duergar were forced to dig up; in an ancient civilization far below the mountain’s base.

The times Omen was not able to identify or determine what an item was, the Mind Rippers beat him to an inch of his life. Life, for Omen, was nothing short of Hell. The Drow that gathered around and sought to rebel against their masters, were often captured and made examples of; as the Mind Rippers brought all the Drow before them, to watch as the Mind Rippers used their tentacles that protruded from their mouths, to feed on the brains of those who would dare rebel against them; granting them the knowledge and the power of those whom they devoured.

Omen watched, as those slightly older than him, were forced to breed forcibly, watched and tortured by the Mind Rippers, if they did not perform. And as always, Omen watched, as always, as the young children were ripped from the mother’s grasp.

Those who became too weak, or too old, the Mind Rippers took them away, to devour their brains and consume their knowledge and power.

During one of the digs, a mysterious figure – appearing to be ashen skinned elf appeared, demanding the Mind Rippers to work for him – and that he sought an artifact in the very civilization that the Mind Rippers were excavating. The Mind Rippers, believing themselves the superior race, naturally declined – and declined violently. The Ashen Elf then began casting powerful magic, bringing the mountain down around everyone.

In the confusion, Omen fled his masters. He found that the attack by the Ashen Elf had opened up several sealed passages that the Mountain Dwarves had created to stop the attacks by the Mind Rippers. Omen slipped through, narrowly being captured by Mountain Dwarves several times, before emerging outside the mountain, tumbling down the mountain side.

Omen awoke in the Wizard’s conclave, where he was later brought before King Saric, who sought someone knowledgeably in ancient artifacts.
