Despite the protests of his parents, Alaric Lysane joined the militia at the age of 16. Recruited into the Guardstone Militia, Alaric was assigned to tracking down, hunting, and killing the fractured Orcish members of The Broken Hand.

Though The Broken Hand had suffered terrible losses during their battle against the Ashen Elf, pockets of the organization had continued to operate throughout the land, continuing their violent behavior. During his time hunting down, integrating, and capturing members of The Broken Hand, Alaric Lysane became fluent in speaking the Orcish tongue.

The more Alaric Lysane saw of the brutality the Orcs inflicted upon the world, the deeper his hatred for the Orcs and their ilk ran. He made it a personal mission to fight for those that could not fight for themselves, and if need be, he would sacrifice himself if it ever came to it, to help those in need.

His determination was eventually noticed by his superiors, and he was recommended to become a part of the King’s Squadron. As a part of the King’s Squadron, Alaric Lysane was sent out to settle disputes that arose and to help defend towns that frequently found themselves attacked by brigands and the like. Recognition came again, and Alaric Lysane was recruited into the King’s Own – where he became an officer commanding his own crew – all assigned to personally guard and keep the King safe.

In 1,176 – when news about a new continent being found across the vast ocean, and west of Guardstone, Alaric Lysane was immediately interested. Explaining to the King that he was still young, and wanted to see what “lay beyond” – the King freed him from service of the King’s Own, and Alaric Lysane sailed west aboard The Thunder Wave. When he arrived in the Ivory Coast, he quickly made himself known as a trusted warrior.

When Spire’s Edge was attacked by a blue dragon, and bands of kobolds, Alaric Lysane immediately rode there as quickly as he could, with no regard to his own life. He arrived as the siege was still taking place, and fought off what felt like hundreds of Kobolds, and was in awe of the sight of the blue dragon, who brought terror and destruction to Spire’s Edge – and for the first time, truly felt that perhaps he would not live to see the next day.

The dragon, however, did not seem interested in killing people; it used its lightning breath instead to destroy homes and burn things. After what felt like the longest night of his life, the kobolds and the dragon retreated into the morning sunrise, leaving behind rubble and smoke. The casualties were surprisingly low for the residents of Spire’s Edge.

Alaric Lysane remained in Spire’s Edge, adopting his old duty of protecting the town from constant siege by opportunist enemies; the most common being the gnolls, who sought to kill and murder anyone they could.

With the defenses more secure, when a caravan headed for the Broken Lands arrived at Spire’s Edge, Alaric Lysane offered his services to help guard the caravan through the mountains. He had heard about the Broken Lands, and the wild magic and things that were coming from that area, and wanted to see where his next adventure would take him.
