Flashback:

  • During one of the raids on a forest near New Moon Bay, the Cultists attacked and raided the Wood Elf city of New Moon. A bold move, considering the city is in the trees, the Cultists knew that the Wood Elves harvested jewels that had been traded with the tritons who came to New Moon Bay.
    • The princess of New Moon, a bold, if not brash (and sometimes foolish) woman defied her father, who demanded that she remain back with the guards. Having spent all of her life training and learning to duel (much to the dismay of her father), Freya joined the battle against the Cultists. Once the Cultists realized who she was, all attention was focused on her, and the idea of the gems was quickly forgotten, as they could use her as a hostage and more importantly, ransom.
    • Overcome by sheer numbers, Freya was captured and abducted, with the Cultists getting away. Freya’s father, Tarien called on a trusted friend – a ranger by the name of Gailon to track down the Cultists and rescue his daughter. Gailon spent many nights tracking the Cultists through various landscapes and towns, but Freya was always heavily guarded.
    • End Flashback
  • When the Cultists arrived at the castle in the swamp; he noticed a group of peculiar members of the “Cult” (they wore the robes), who did not behave like Cultists. The way they moved through the castle told Gailon these were not regular cultists or mercenaries that had been hired by the Cult. He followed them down into the dungeon below the castle where he witnessed them killing the leader of the frogloks, which confirmed his suspicion.
  • He then introduced himself, and asked if they knew the location of Princess Freya, who had been abducted; none of which the others did. The others introduced themselves (Dacys, Urthez, Twig, Zelona, and Kai).
  • They agreed to help free Princess Freya from the Cultists. Together they made their way back up the stairs and headed for the tavern in the castle, where they could perhaps gather information.
  • Kai was easily persuasive in the way she spoke, so that the cultists revealed where the princess had been kept.
  • Gailon did not wait and rushed up the stairs, chased by Dacys and Kai. After a moment, Dacys was able to kick down the door and free Freya, whom Gailon gave one of his swords to, knowing she was skilled with a blade.
  • Kai convinced the guard at the base of the stairs that she would take over watch. There were two guards at the front gate that would surly recognize Freya; so Urthez and Twig went over there to distract them.
  • However, the two guards quickly became suspicious and rang the bell to alarm the others. Twig and Urthez made quick worth of the two guards, but by then it was already too late.
  • The party, save for Kai, who had been cut off by the mob that poured out of the tavern ran into the swamps and got separated.
  • It was a good thing Kai had got cut off. She was able to deceive and persuade the search parties to go in the wrong direction.
  • The party reunited in the swamps and made their way to the lizard people, where Twig revealed the severed head of the froglok leader. This inspired the lizard people to rebel, evidence that, despite their superstition, the frogloks were not invincible. This incited a riot that arrived at the, now unguarded castle, which was easily over taken, as the mercenaries were still out in the swamps looking for the party members.
  • This forced Rezmir to flee through the portal; and after slaying a few of his personal guards, managed to get inside his room, find the book with the secret phrase, and then run down beneath the castle (all the while, the riot continued with the lizard people over taking the castle), and use the teleporter to get to the lodge in the frozen mountains.
  • Kai recognized the mountain range as Frostmourn.
  • The party made their way to the lodge, where inside they fought two gargoyles that proved to be a difficult fight. From there they moved around the rest of the lodge quietly.
  • When they got to the kitchen with the sixteen kobolds (frantically trying to cook) and the four cultists barking commands, they tried to pass themselves off as cultists and go to the basement below, however, the cultists spotted the Elf ears on Gailon and Freya and immediately attacked, and overwhelmed them both.
  • The rest of the party rushed up the stairs and put an end to the cultists and kobolds, and stabilized Gailon and Freya.
  • In the basement there was two humans (a male and a female), a dwarf (badly wounded) and a gnome (magic user, by the looks of it), who introduced himself as Sin-grin.
  • The party, badly hurt, made their way upstairs where they encountered Talis the White, with two of her guards.
  • She offered the party a deal; if they could… put Rezmir down… she would not send her troll, Trespin after them. And besides Rezmir being put down would help her. The party agreed, and Talis explained that Rezmir was probably headed for the flying castle at a nearby village.
