The Yuan-ti culture firmly believes that the Serpent Lord, Nebakrau, will one day constrict the world and destroy it. The culture of the Yuan-ti began as humans who devoted their life and their souls to Nebakrau embracing the serpent lord’s ways; and in turn, Nebakrau gifted each of the Yuan-Ti with a manifestation of the serpent – whether that’s: a forked tongue, snake eyes, a snakelike nose, or some other ophidian characteristic. However a yuan-ti looks, they have the power to pursue great good or evil in the multiverse.

Yuan-Ti who turn their back on Nebakrau are relentlessly hunted down by Yuan-Ti assassins; so the few who do turn their back and seek to do, perhaps good in the world, are far and few between, because few ever live through the relentless assassination attempts by the Yuan-Ti.
