Tortles primarily come from the island of Komarach, which they are known to defend. There are a number of smaller islands around Komarach that are also populated by Tortles.
As Tortles rarely care about seeing the world, and many remain on (or around) Komarach in order to defend the island which has plants and animals that are not seen elsewhere; and as such, Komarach is often targeted by pirates who try to capture animals or steal the exotic plants, knowing that they would fetch considerable gold on the black market.
Though Tortles do not know how they were created, and typically do not credit any specific deity for their creation, many are drawn to Ramonita. Some speculate because she is a goddess often associated with the waves and tranquility, which are traits typically found in Tortles.
Though they rarely travel away from their home (unless it’s to nearby islands), there are a few Tortles who have grown curious of the world beyond their islands. Tortle sightings are always shocking to others, as they’re so rarely seen. However, the Tortles who do travel, often decorate their shells, using their shells to record their travels and adventures, with symbols and drawings that may not make any sense to anyone else, except the Tortle themselves.
