The Giant Echelon

The Three Primary Planes –

There are three primary planes:

  • Aftgrand – The High Plane. This is the Plane, from which most of the good aligned gods dwell, along with hundreds of Immortals. Aftgrand is said to be a Plane, whose beauty, mortal words could never describe.
  • Brengrand – The Middle Plane. This is often times called “The Material Plane” as many believe that Brengrand is actually a reference to the world of Kne’Urth itself.
  • Garengrand – The Fallen Plane. The Fallen Plane is said to be a place of desolate landscapes , and void of life, as it is also void of hope. It is said to be this way because this is where the “evil” aligned deities & demigods dwell; and their inability to work with one another or trust one another, has waged so much war, that there is nothing left.

When the War of the Heavens concluded, the devastation of it reshaped the realms entirely – much of Aftgrand was in ruins and the realm of Garengrand was set ablaze for all eternity. Brengard – the Middle Plane – Kne’Urth itself too was ravaged, the entire face of the world had been reshaped by the time the war was over.

As such, several Titans were trapped on the Prime Material Plane and their ties to the ‘godly planes’ were severed – as such, so was their Immortality. These beings ceased calling themselves Immortals or Titans and adopted the name “Empyreans” (which in ancient dialect roughly means ‘severed from home’ or ‘unable to go home.’ Though no longer “Immortal” – Empyreans can live for thousands of years.

The next generation of Empyreans birthed on the Prime Material Plane did not come out as an Empyrean – apparently their severed tie to the godly planes impacted their future children which came out considerably smaller (where as Empyreans stood nearly 40′ tall, their offspring were anywhere from 20′ to 30′ tall) – and these beings became known as “Giants.”

These giants, like their forefathers, the Empyrean, were very powerful, but found their own power, much like their size, diluted. Like the Empyrean, Giants were not immortal but could live for hundreds of years.

While there are several known giants that exists throughout Kne’Urth now – the most commonly known being:

  • Cloud
  • Fire
  • Frost
  • Hill
  • Stone
  • Storm

Other giants are known to exist – for example, Sand Giants are common in the desert lands of Drastor, while Sea Giants have been spotted numerous times in the oceans.

The Empyrean who made their home high in the clouds in magically floating castles or at the very top of the highest mountain peeks – in their attempts to be away from the mortals, whom they blamed for their unintentional exile (the war having broke out due to Nifika’s anger that Grumthak used his blood to corrupt the mortals).

The offspring of the Empyrean, the giants, however, were more curious about the mortals, perhaps due to their detachment from being directly involved in the War of the Heavens; an interest and curiosity brewed in them to see what these “mortals” had that made the deities of the world so furious that they would wage war for them.

However, as a power struggle ensued among the giants, the mortal realm once again paid the price, though the devastation was nowhere near as severe. The Giants eventually established an Echelon, in which the Giants would rotate who sits as the High King or High Queen.
