  • DM Note – I started the session with everyone rolling a D20 – to see if someone’s complication from the past Caravan event(s) comes up – and Adrian rolled the highest
  • Two rough looking humans approach Adrian and say, “‘ey – we need to talk to ye – in private.”
  • Adrian asks if he knows either of these men – and as he looks at them – they look like thugs – but no one that Adrian has ever recalled running into. He shrugs, “I don’t think I want to go with you.”
  • One of them says, “If you know what’s good for ye and yer friends, you should come with us.”
  • Adrian turns to his friends, and says, “Wait here.”
  • Ragnaroc says, “They look nefarious – you shouldn’t go alone.”
  • Buppido shrugs, “Maybe they’re attracted to you? If you put them down gently, maybe it will be okay?”
  • Adrian turns to the two thugs, “I am flattered by your attraction to me, but listen – I am not your type – but you will find someone I am sure.”
  • One of the thugs bursts out, “Attraction? Ye think this is what this is about?”
  • Adrian shrugs, “Well, sure,” as he flexes, “look at these arms.” He adds, “My friends don’t want us to go with you. So either talk to all of us, or feel free to go.”
  • Buppido offers to be the wing man and one of the two thug looking men says, “If ye wanna bring your short little friend – that’s fine. He doesn’t look like he could be much trouble.”
  • Adrian and Buppido agree and decide to go with the two human men
  • Ragnaroc decides that he too will follow – but not be hidden – he simply follows at ten feet behind
  • One of the men sees that Ragnaroc is following and tells his brother to continue and he will go talk to the one following them. He approaches Ragnaroc and says, “It’s not a good idea to follow us. This isn’t any of your business.”
  • Ragnaroc doesn’t stop, or listen, and keeps following
  • The man grabs Ragnaroc by the shoulder, and says, “Listen – this is not a good idea. Final warning.”
  • Ragnaroc hits him with two blasts of Eldritch Blast
  • The thug pulls out a club, hits Ragnaroc with non lethal damage, saying, “Turn around now – this business is no concern of yours.”
  • However the thug is consumed in hellish flames, as Ragnaroc releases Hellish Rebuke which he’s unable to avoid
  • Ragnaroc unleashes two more Eldritch Blasts – one of them striking a Natural 20 – which kills the thug – and Ragnaroc quickly loots the body and hides it in the bushes – when he looks up, however – he no longer sees Adrian, Bupiddo and the thug – as they’ve been lost in the crowd of the caravan packing up and ready to head out
  • Meanwhile, Buppido and Adrian reach the wagon of Kraun Torodon, the wealthy Tiefling who’d approached Adrian previously (after his pit fight) and offered him a questionable job to do which Adrian turned down
  • Buppido mentions, “So, I heard you were interested in my friend?”
  • Kraun replies, “I am interested in what he can do for me. He seems like a capable fighter, but not such a good drinker.”
  • Adrian corrects Kraun, saying he’d been drugged – and Kraun laughs and says, “Let me guess – the Tabaxi twins?” Kraun then says, “Our next major stop is Lakefront – and there’s something there that I want – and if you can get it – I will pay you – and your friends – quite handsomely.”
  • Adrian says, “Tell me what this is all about – so I can think about it.”
  • Kraun explains, “In Lakefront – there’s a Thieves Guild – that operates out of the port – if it’s still there – there’s a special… gem… that I want. Get it for me – whatever it takes – and as I said, I will reward you handsomely.”
  • Buppido perks up, “Gem you say?”
  • Adrian asks if the gem belongs to him, and Kraun explains, “No – but it… belongs to an old friend of mine… who is no longer with us.”
  • Adrian asks, “Why is this gem so important?”
  • Kraun replies, “Because it reminds me of my friend.”
  • Adrian asks, “What does this gem look like?”
  • Kraun answers, “You will know it when you see it – it’s a gem socketed into the eye of a human skull.”
  • Adrian says, “If I agree to do this – my other friends will be helping – so you’d need to pay us all.”
  • Kraun nods, “Yes, that’s fine – I’d be willing to pay all of you for your time and effort.”
  • Adrian asks, “After this – will you leave us alone?”
  • Kraun nods, “Yes. I deal in trades and business. So I will resume my normal business.”
  • Buppido asks, “What if we can’t find it?”
  • Kraun says, “Find the Thieves Guild – question them – one of them must know where it’s at – or who it’s been traded to. I’d send my own men – but as you can see,” he gestures to several of the wagons that bare his symbol, “I have a lot of gold and need my men to keep my treasures safe. That’s why I need… external services.”
  • Adrian and Buppido return back to their wagon and explain the situation, and show a bag of 200 gold that he gave them as a “pre-pay” for their time – and explain how the gem is inside of a skull
  • Ragnaroc asks, “Couldn’t we just steal the gold from him – rather than go fetch it.”
  • Buppido mentions, “I am … interested… in seeing the gem.”
  • Adrian mentions, “We could find the thieves guild – and warn them that this Tiefling is after it.”
  • Korra adds, “The Thieves Guild may even reward us for the warning.”
  • Ragnaroc mentions, “We should be cautious. The other thug did attack me – and he’s dead because of it.” (He doesn’t disclose to the party that the thug was using a club and doing non-lethal damage) Ragnaroc adds, “Last time,” as he looks at Buppido, “we went looking for ‘treasure’ – it didn’t turn out so well. I will go where you go, Adrian, but I advise not listening to him,” as he points at Buppido.
  • Adrian looks to Korra – and sees Korra speaking with Sephrenia about something else
  • Ragnaroc looks around the caravan – and goes to Abey Aditsan – who is the herbalist who sells potions – and tries to persuade her into selling some Greater Healing Potions, for quite a bit cheaper than she is selling them for – and fails to do so – as she explains that the demand is quite high, and finding the plants needed to create them on the road can be difficult, so Ragnaroc leaves
  • Korra approaches Adrian and asks, “You’d called for me?”
  • Adrian asks if she has any connections to the Thieves Guild in Lakefront, which she does not – but she explains she might be able to find how to find it. But she also says they should learn more about this gem inlaid in a skull – since it seems like a rather unusual request – and that it might be magical
  • Buppido pipes up and says, “True! It might be magical!”
  • Buppido roles Arcana – but can’t recall anything special about a gem in a skull
  • The Caravan proceeds on it’s way to Lakefront – and on the third day – as the wagons crest over the hill – the front caravan suddenly comes to a sudden halt, bringing all the other wagons to emergency halt
  • Adrian slides off the wagon and makes his way to the front to see why it’d come to a halt
  • The town of Lakefront is in ruins – buildings are torn down, things are in rubble – and people can be seen rebuilding
Port city of Lakefront, in ruins.
  • It’s clear that something’s happened to the town – and no news has reached anyone about this destruction has reached Ridgecrest
  • The caravan pulls up to Lakefront – and pulls in front of town – where there was once trees that provided shelter for the horses – but the trees are all broke and snapped and singed (but not by fire, but looks acidic damage)
  • Sephrenia, Korra and Buppido – all notice there seems to be a huge rib bone that crosses at the top like a large “X” at the top of the gate
  • A human (who introduces himself as Garrus Hammerstone) approaches the caravan and welcomes everyone – and says, “We don’t have much in the way of Inns or Taverns… or stores… or much of anything…” He shrugs and adds, “Those who survived – well, we’ve made pop up tents … so we do have, I suppose, an outside tavern… some food… not much… your best bet is just camping out here with your caravan… but, if you’d be so inclined to help us rebuild… whether that’s by donations or just helping hammer some beams together – it’s greatly appreciated.”
  • Sephrenia asks what happened, and the human explains, “Well, I suppose that makes sense. We’ve had plenty of caravans coming to us from Ridgecrest, but not really much headed back in that direction – so the news of what happened here hasn’t reached the main city. A black dragon – like I’ve never seen before – skin barely attached to it’s bones – it showed up – and tore the city and surrounding area – destroying everything – and it found two humans – and ripped their heads off – and placed them on the posts. A group of adventurers appeared and finally defeated the dragon.” He looks at the gate, “And we use its two of it’s rib cage bones here at the gate as an omen to those who dare come to attack that we are ready – even in this state.”
A visage of the undead black dragon, Ebony the Black Dragon
  • He once again brings donations; and Sephrenia mentions they’re poor, broke, adventurers
  • Garrus nods and says, “Yes, yes – definitely hard time for everyone. Especially the children. So many children in Lakefront without homes. Some without parents – because they died in the Black Dragon’s attack.”
  • Adrian hears that and offers to donate 100 gold; Sephrenia also donates 100 gold and 5 candles for lighting; Ragnaroc donates 25 gold and tell Garrus to go speak to the Tiefling, Kraun – he has several wagons of gold – and Garrus calls over one of his assistants to go towards Kraun’s wagon
  • Kraun not only gladly donates a significant amount of gold to the town, he also tells the assistant that he is all too happy to leave some of his most trusted guards here in Lakeview to ensure the town’s safety as it rebuilds; Kraun looks over towards the party, smiles, and tips his hat to them
  • Korra offers to donate labor in exchange for information about a specific gem they’re looking for
  • Buppido asks about wizard; and Garrus looks over at a fallen tower in the western side of the town, and says, “That would have been Darius Blackmane. He once lived there – and when the dragon came – it crumbled down, during the attack. The adventurers who came and defeated the black dragon – did something – the bard it was – who brought more of the tower down, as if to seal it.”
  • Buppido points out that they should probably start looking there for the gem – if it’s magical – a wizard’s tower might provide some good clues
  • Adrian asks if Darius was a “good” wizard and Garrus answers, “Well, he was your typical wizard – no offense to you, my little friend,” as he gestures to Buppido, “in that he was a rather eccentric older man – spent most of his time in his tower. Built it here because a lot of goods were being shipped out of here from the Broken Lands, and he often wanted to examine or offered good coin for some things that adventurers – such as yourselves – had found and brought back from the Broken Lands.”
  • He does add that no one saw Darius – even before the Black Dragon’s attack – for many weeks – but then, Darius was a recluse
  • Korra goes inside the town – and sees the destruction – but she’s looking for Thieves Cant on the walls – and quickly finds it – she follows it around several times as it loops her through several of the ruined buildings before finally leading towards the pier in the back – where she continues to follow the markings that lead directly under the pier and to what is the marking of a false stone door
Business deals of questionable nature – happening below the main port docks
  • Korra heads back to the party and explains that she’s found what she believes to be the entrance to the thieves guild; but definitely feels like before they go in there, they should try to find out more about this skull with the inlaid gem
  • Buppido looks around Darius’ wizard tower; to see if there’s an easy way in – and spots a way to move a minimal amount of rocks, to be able to gain entrance to the lower section of the tower
  • Ragnaroc reminds the group that the last time they followed Buppido into something; it resulted in them encountering a demon at a previously fallen tower; then a slime (Razataun) cult in an ancient temple – he’s always leading them into trouble
  • Don spends the morning, upon arriving – working with many of the animals in the town who were either wounded during the dragon attack – or exhausted from the constant work – and he’s able to help the animals
  • Adrian and Buppido head for Darisus’ fallen wizard tower; Buppido points out the rock that needs to be moved, and Adrian is easily able to move the rock out of the way – and there, beneath the stone is a crumbled passage heading downward
  • Sephrenia offers to go with them into the tower; Ragnaroc decides he will go to one of the pop up restaurants to get some food; and while Korra walks around the town, she does spot what seem to be several members of the local thieves guild
Into the depths of the fallen tower
  • Sephrenia, Buppido and Adrian make their way into the fallen tower; and see a second set of stairs going further down, from which Buppido hear something – or someone – talking
  • Buppido turns to the other two, “I hear talking! Someone’s down here! (Besides us!) I wonder if it’s the wizard?”
  • Sephrenia and Adrian’s clanking armor echoes as the party continues down the stairs; and the voice further down can be heard shouting, “I have guests! I have guests!”
  • Buppido calls out, “Darius? Is that you?”
  • The overly cheery voice from further down calls back, “Darius? Me? No! No, I am not Darius!”
  • The party continues and is greeted by a floating orb with eye stalks…
What manner of creature is this?
  • As the party approaches – it’s clear that the creature – a Spectator – may have gone mad as it says –

I’m bored! Bored! Bored!
Of guarding this horde!
She’s already left – the one with the sword!
I would have spoke with her – maybe made an accord?
But I remain here, guarding this horde!
I talk to my Master, but I’m often ignored!
In his madness, he seeks to be restored!
So here I am, still guarding his ward!

The Mad Spectator
  • Buppido asks, “Do you work for Darius?”
  • And the mad spectator, answers – but rambles off a riddle – despite Bupiddo’s best effort in stopping the mad Spectator as it says:

My Lord goes by the name Darius Blackmane
And he read a book he shouldn’t have!
He read it all, instead of only half!
Hailing deep from the Broken Lands
This tome of ancient secrets, buried deep in the sands
He uncovered secrets his mind could not withstand
    Now bound to invisible chains
He’s gone a little bit insane!
  • The Spectator approaches Buppido and says:
    What are you doing here?
But before Buppido can finish answering, it continues –
You don’t seem to be filled with fear!
  • Buppido waits and finally says, “I’ve come to help your master.”
  • The Spectator says:
    Darius is down below!
If it’s him you seek, that’s where you’ll need to go!
    But beware!
Of the little things that are down there!
  • Buppido asks, “Do you think he’d be happy to see us?”
  • The Mad Spectator replies –
    Locked behind a broken door
I don’t know what he thinks anymore
His mind was lost, you see
    Binding him for eternity
I’ve tried to speak to him, it’s all in vain
Since the day he went a little insane!
  • Adrian asks, “Do you have a name?”
  • The Spectator replies –
It’s a shame, I was given no name!
But I guess that means I can never be the one to blame!
  • Adrian nods, “I shall name you Bob, then.”
  • The Spectator seems to smile broadly – finally given a name and says –
    Then I shall be Bob
But guarding is what I do
    And I am not slob
As I have proven to you!
  • Adrian points down the stairs, “So Bob, want to lead the way?”
  • Bob, the Mad Spectator replies –
On this floor I must stay
So forgive me, I can not lead the way!
Stay here and guard the ward
    While you go forward!
I trust you not to steal
Or the wrath of my master, you will feel.
  • Sephrenia repeats a rhyme, “We come to speak to your master; and hope to learn much faster; Of him there is much hype; do you know of what type?”
  • Bob, the Mad Spectator cheerfully replies:
    Withered is he
    Hard it is to see!
Whispers words of magic that sparkle from his fingers
Cursed to remain here, his mind gone, his body lingers!
  • Sephrenia looks at the others and says, “We may have an undead wizard down there.”
  • Meanwhile, Korra has made several contacts through hand gestures to know who some of the members of the local thieves guild are and returns back to find Don. She’s able to find Don with the animals – and recalls that several of the local Thieves Guild seemed overly interested in Don, with one or two assigned to “work the stables” and keep an eye on him. Korra learned that several of them had mentioned, “He looks like the one she was talking about.” Korra heads into the stables and gets near two of the Rogues and hears them say, “I am pretty sure that’s him. She did say he might come looking for her one day.”
  • After the two rogues depart, Korra approaches Don to warn him – that someone – a woman – seems to be on alert about his presence
  • Don does some Speak with Animals and Animal Handling and confirms the horses saw some unusual behavior from “humanoids”
  • Korra and Don decide to head to the Wizard’s tower – but first, head to the make shift tavern to go find Ragnaroc; and they find Ragnaroc eating food
  • Korra and Don fill Ragnaroc in on what they’ve learned as they head for the Wizard’s Tower – about how she’s found contacts for the Rogue’s Guild, and that they’ve also learned about a woman who had several members of the Rogue’s Guild to be on the look out for – either Don, or someone who bares a striking resemblance to Don
  • Back to Buppido, Sephrenia and Adrian – Buppido tries to Insight “Bob” The Mad Spectator – and as far as he can tell – the creature seems to be telling the truth – but it’s clearly (perhaps as insane) as it’s “Master” – making a true insight check difficult since it may not be able to truly establish the difference between reality and fantasy, lie and truth
  • By this time, Don, Korra and Ragnaroc catch up to the party, as it’s saying:
    Withered is he
    Hard it is to see!
Whispers words of magic that sparkle from his fingers
Cursed to remain here, his mind gone, his body lingers!
  • Adrian looks over and introduces the Spectator as “Bob”
  • The Spectator says
Oh – hello – you, and you and you
    I certainly don’t know
But I assume you’re with them
And coming seeking the truth about a special gem!
  • Buppido sees the others and says, “Great, you’re here! Just as I’d foreseen! And I was right! There is a wizard down here! I’ve not led us astray!” He pauses and adds, “But, if -” he looks over to the Spectator, “Bob is to be believed, he may be a crazy. But not completely crazy. Just half crazy. That’s what Bob says.”
  • Korra expresses her concerns about the wizard being crazy; and Buppido says, “Yes, but we can talk to his non crazy half and it should be fine!”
  • Sephrenia says, “Bob, can you tell us about the gem again?”
  • Bob sighs and says –
Oh, with one eye gone; and one eye green
Secrets as old as the first dawn; who knows what it has seen!
Seek more, go beyond the door
Down below, is where you must go!
  • Korra tells the party about what she’s learned – that some of the rogues have targeted people from the caravan to “lighten the load” and also learned that some of the Rogues were warned about Don one day showing up and seemed genuinely concerned – and that there was a woman involved
  • Don talks about a woman by the name of a human woman named Lourna Mauthtar, whom he’d met in the woods – while he was surviving off the lands. She’d tried to steal food from him when he caught her. She explained that she’d been hiding from the law because she’d been falsely accused of a crime (theft, which Don had found ironic since she was trying to steal his food). The two had become friends, which eventually developed into a romantic relationship – but when news of these great treasures coming from this new continent began to circulate – it called to her roguish heart, yet again. She expressed an interest in going and he declined, so one night she up and left him without warning. While passing through a small town (Pinevale), one of the people said they’d had a message for him – and that she found something big – and joined the Order of the Dragons. Don had booked passage and tracked her down to the guild known as The Shadow Knives, where he would go on to meet the others (except Korra and Buppido). He suspects the woman may be Lourna.
  • The party proceeds and comes to a floor – decorated in four symbols: Lion, (Sabre-tooth) Tiger, Dragon, Wolf
    • DM Note: They represent three of my favorite wild animals to have existed (Wolf, Sabretooth Tiger, and the Lion would have been a Cheetah – but they don’t have very destintive features, so I settled with Lion – and the Dragon – well, it’s fantasy! And for the game in Discord the image of the Dragon was that of Dragon Optical – a sunglass company I worked at – though the Dragon symbol was missing the circle around it – but for this, I changed it to the D&D logo – just so no one decries some kind of trademark infringement)
The tile of animals.
  • The party made several attempts to begin crossing the tile – and quickly realized – it was a trap that required a specific pattern.
  • Buppido attempts magic – which seems to fail – at that point they notice runes inscribed on the wall that prevent magic in this room – ensuring there’s no easy way of crossing this pattern without knowledge of the correct path
  • After several of them tried several attempts, taking significant damage – they (Korra) figured to go back to Bob, the Mad Spectator to see if he might offer a clue
  • Going back up they ask about the runes on the floor, and Bob, the Mad Spectator says –
My master, he’s a little crazy!
But he gave me the pass, because he’s also a little lazy!
Begin by lyin’ down, but don’t let it drag on!
    Tooth and nail ahead, lie down again;
Gaze to the moon, before lyin’ down again!
Admire the moon and howl, it’s a cat and mouse game!
So step ahead and roar at the dragon below you!
Three fangs before you; before you can lie down again.
  • After a few attempts (and more damage), the party discovers the key but took damage along the way because they didn’t have it all the way.
  • They make it to the door on the other side; and she checks to see if the door is trapped; but she’s not able to see the door very well (to explain the failed Investigation check) – after spending significant time trying to examine the door – they give the knob a turn – and it’s unlocked and untrapped, revealing the room beyond
  • The room is extremely dark, and a chill emanates from the room; the shadows seem alive as red eyes make themselves visible
  • Adrian does Divine Sense and detects undead within the room
  • Buppido calls out, “Uh, Darius – is that you?”
  • A voice from the shadows whispers, “Who… comes… to … my … tower?”
  • Buppido explains, “I am a wizard too – and thought maybe you could help me out?”
  • The voice is chilling when it responds, “Information can damn your mind… break your sanity… be careful of what you seek, wizard…”
  • Buppido clears his throat, “I am looking for something pretty unique – a skull, with a gem in the eye socket?”
  • The voice of Darius whispers, “The gem was once here… fools came and took it… they will learn their lesson soon…”
  • Sephrenia looks at the others and whispers, “This does not sound like something we want.”
  • She then asks if there’s a reward for returning it and Darius’ shadowy voice simply replies, “Destroy it. Take it to the Broken Lands from whence it came and destroy it to break its vile curse.”
  • Korra asks about the curse, and Darius’ voice whispers, “The gem will bring madness to your mind… revealing secrets… your mind… would never be able to withstand… never ceasing… ever flowing… knowledge… with no end… pouring into the mind… that breaks… under the flood… the never… ending… flood.”
  • There’s a pause, and Darius’ shadowy voice adds, “I once had it… heard its secrets… and this… this is what I became.”
The reclusive Wizard, Darius – reveals his new form
  • Darius explains that the gem will call out for someone to take it; so it can bestow it’s “wisdom and knowledge” – and the eager for knowledge will hear it’s call much louder than the ignorant and the passive
  • Sephrenia asks if there’s anything they can do for him; and he says, to break this curse he’s bestowed upon himself
  • Buppido asks if he has any spellbooks; and Darius explains that the thieves who stole the gem also stole his spellbooks – at least those that survived the dragon’s attack
  • Buppido goes back to breaking the curse on the gem; and Darius explains that they will find people in the Broken Lands who are familiar with breaking ancient curses
  • Adrian asks what will happen to Darius when the curse is broken from him; and he explains his soul will be free to go to the afterlife, where he will be judged by the gods, and accept their choice, as to the fate of his soul
  • Korra asks about how to hold the gem; and Darius explains he once had a magical bag where he was able to place the gem in it after his death – and becoming what he’s become – but the thieves had taken that as well – and now he can hear the gem again – it’s out of its bag
  • Korra asks about if others knowing that the gem was here, and Darius mentions that no one else knew – by the time he’d acquired it – he’d locked himself away – and just days after being driven mad – the dragon came. Then others came and destroyed him once – but his curse restores him if he’s not properly put to rest.
  • Sephrenia asks about “Bob” who Darius explains he doesn’t know – but they clarify on the Spectator – and Darius explains that The Spectator has served him for a long time; and like many of his kind, he’s gone insane; and that upon the break of his curse, that the Spectator would be returned
  • Adrian then asks, “Bob – the, uh – Spectator – mentioned a sword.”
  • Darius explains, “Among those who came to destroy me – one of them bares the Suncutter – prophesied to end the world.”
  • The party agrees that this woman who bares this sword sounds like a threat – and learn that her name is Phalen. Sephrenia says, “This Phalen needs to die.”
  • Ragnaroc asks if there’s a way to see where Phalen is, and Darius explains, “Behind me is a scrying pool – speak the name of whom you seek and describe something you know of them – and it may reveal what you wish to know.”
  • Sephrenia asks if he will keep guard of her – and the others – if they rest here, to remove the curse. And Darius explains he’s bound to this room.
  • Buppido approaches the Scrying Pool and runs his finger three times in a circle within the water, then touches it to his forehead and says, “Phalen, destroyer of worlds.”
  • The pool’s water shimmer; as it begins to move across the world, and shows a large mountain range; it moves up the path and turns into a cave, near the peak of the mountain – slowly moving inside, it reveals a caravan of about ten wagons all together – taking shelter from the snow storm raging at the top of the mountain – it continues to move through the cavern until it shows a female High Elf Cleric, a large sword strapped to her back, an unusual gauntlet on her hand; strangely she doesn’t look like she’s evil, nor do her companions around her – save for one of her companions sitting close to her – a Red Dragonborn – and if it’s color is any indication – and it takes after it’s blood line – Red Dragons are evil dragons – and this one seems large and muscular, wearing tattered furs – undoubtedly a barbarian – next to him, several Kobolds – he appears to perhaps be her bodyguard…
  • Buppido repeats the process (runs his finger three times in a circle within the water, then touches it to his forehead and says) “Cursed Gem Skull”
  • The view changes to Lakefront; and plunges through the ground – then moves through an elaborate sewer system quickly – before coming to a halt in a room – where several human(oid) figures can be seen standing there – the gem inlaid in the skull on a desk – while someone appears to be on their hands and knees bowing to it
  • Adrian does the process (runs his finger three times in a circle within the water, then touches it to his forehead and says) and says, “Future wife.”
  • The pool shimmers; but does nothing more (it doesn’t know the future, it’s essentially a GPS)
  • Don approaches the Scrying Pool (runs his finger three times in a circle within the water, then touches it to his forehead and says) and says, “Lourna Mauthtar of the Order of the Dragons”
  • The view changes from Lakefront; to moving west – cutting through land, mountains, and into the Broken Lands – where it seems to spend a few moments moving around aimlessly, before settling near a large mesa, and suddenly it turns sharply – and reveals a woman, adorned in blue dragon armor – she turns her head as if looking directly at Don and turns back and says, “Cobalt, we’re being scried!” A blue dragon roars – and lightning crackles the view – and the water shimmers again – revealing Lakefront.
  • Adrian repeats the process (runs his finger three times in a circle within the water, then touches it to his forehead and says) and says, “Kraun Torodon”
  • The view changes – and focuses on Kraun – where it shows the guard who had escorted Adrian and Bupiddo to Kraun’s wagon looking visibily upset – and pointing to the party’s wagon angrily – and the word, “Murder… My brother’s missing… last time we saw him the wizard was talking to him” (not actually a wizard, it was Ragnaroc who he is referencing) can easily be heard from the guard
  • Sephrenia invites Korra to the scrying pool and repeats the process (runs her finger three times in a circle within the water, then touches it to her forehead and says), “Kaliea Moonguard”
  • The scrying pool remains in Lakefront; and changes the view to outside of the city where the wagons are and shows a human female, by the looks of it, a Ranger, like Don; Sephrenia’s mind is on her cape – and notices the brooch – and she is positive it’s the one that she’s looking for.
  • Buppido takes another spin at the scrying pool (runs his finger three times in a circle within the water, then touches it to his forehead and says) “Broken Star.”
  • The scrying pool seems to zip to several hundred geo-locations, from forests, deserts, mountains, rivers, oceans, arctic – and shows massive indents in the world – where it appears something large had impacted – one of the locations it revealed was clearly out in the Broken Lands.
  • Korra approaches and does the ritual (runs her finger three times in a circle within the water, then touches it to her forehead and says) “Valinor”
  • The view changes – going from Lakefront – to the the west – through the mountains – heading deep into the Broken Lands – where there is a large tent, where four Drow generals taking shelter from the sun – and by the looks of it – they’ve been moving west
  • On each of their fingers is a Ring of Elements (One for Air: Valinor, One for Water: Leviathan; One for Fire: Phoenix, and One for Earth: Zaratan). One of the Drow looks up and says, “We’re being scried!” And casts Darkness within the tent – preventing the ability to see what map they may have been looking at.
  • Adrian repeats the process again (runs his finger three times in a circle within the water, then touches it to his forehead and says), “Nor’Orn alchemist.”
  • The view heads into the Shadow Vale where Nor’Orn is enjoying a wonderful life of alchemy, curing various people
  • Adrian then says, “Kala’shin”
  • The view remains in the Shadow Vale and shows the green dragon they’d briefly encountered while traveling through there, who seems to be slumbering in her cave still
  • Korra repeats the process (runs her finger three times in a circle within the water, then touches it to her forehead and says) “Home.”
  • What she sees – she’s not ready for – her home seems to be in the middle of a large war; where she can hear her father shouting to some of his Royal Guard, that the war is all because of the Drow – that they’ve bred the lie that the other Planes have Captured the Elders so that they could take over their Plane!
  • Korra is horrified by what she sees and hopes to find a way to contact the Couatl, Slyver, who had sent her on this mission; she turns to Sephrenia asking if she can send a message to her family; and Sephrenia says she’s able to, but the message is limited to 25 words.
  • The party stops here to take a long rest.
