The Balance Of Nature.
Vigilant of the sacred woods, Brolimir, a Wood Elf of the Shadow Wood Forest, watched as two Half-Orcs burst into the woods. He followed from above the branches. He moved from branch to branch, as easily as one walks down a simple hallway. He had assumed that the two Half-Orcs had entered the woods to; either hunt down elves, mercilessly kill wildlife, or otherwise wreak unwanted havoc. He was surprised, and admittedly confused, when several Hobgoblins ambushed the Half-Orcs. The arrival of yet another stranger made things even more interesting – a Silver skinned Dragonborn arrived and helped the two Half-Orcs. From everything Brolimir had heard, the Silver Dragons were some of the greatest, and most honored Dragons of all. Using his own magic, but remaining hidden, Brolimir ensured that the fight favored the Half-Orcs and the Dragonborn. Unbeknownst to him, his own father had been watching him, and when the fight had concluded, made his presence known and approached him. His father was one of The Master Druid of the Shadow Wood Forest, and he had been impressed by his son’s ability and connection with nature. He explained to Brolimir that he had heard the Half-Orcs make mention of booking passage to the new lands to the Dragonborn, and that perhaps this was not a chance meeting, but Destiny unfolding. He went on to tell his son that there had been no sightings of Unicorns – the most sacred of all animals to Druids – except for reports that some adventurers, the heroes who released the dragons that helped defeat the Ashen Elf – had reported seeing and helping a Unicorn. Perhaps it was Brolimir’s destiny to go with these strangers to this new land and see if he too could make contact with the supposed Unicorn – and see if he could uncover where all these sacred, magical beasts had vanished to.
The Origin of Brolimir
Brolimir, Born of Nature.
Brolimir was born in the Shadow Wood Forest, where his father, Argomir, was one of the Master Druids. Brolimir was the oldest of three children, and was frequently allowed to accompany his father during the Solstices, the most sacred meetings of the Druids. Each of the Druids would report from the various woods that they were assigned to protect and watch over. Most recently, all of them were reporting that none of them had heard from any of the sacred guardians, the Unicorns. The entrance of the Dragons into the world wreaked havoc on the balance of Nature, and the world adjusted to this new power.
Daraken Shadewalker, of the Verdant Woods, on the continent not yet named; where the Ivory Coast was, reported that an ancient green dragon by the name of Emereth had taken up residence in the Verdant Woods. Despite numerous attempts to root out Emereth, the vile, ancient dragon, remained, causing massive casualties. From time to time, Emereth would leave, and return with riches, for which she continued to build her nest. Daraken went on to explain that the Elves had been driven out of the Verdant Woods because of the ancient, green dragon. Now, they have a small outpost outside of the woods, in hopes of one day reclaiming the Verdant Woods from the ancient green dragon.
Other druids, across the lands, were reporting similar issues with Green Dragons taking up residence in their woods; though few seemed as vile as Emereth; though there was no question that all of the green dragons were clearly evil, with no respect for nature, often killing for the sheer pleasure of it.
Brolimir’s father speculated that perhaps the sacred Unicorns had gone into hiding because of the recent invasion of the Green Dragons into their forest homelands. Rumors of a Unicorn sighting just west of the Ivory Vale had ushered some excitement from the druids. After seeing Brolimir handle himself against several Hobgoblins, Argomir knew that it was time for his son to venture forth to seek out the Unicorn.
