Korra’s mother often said Korra was too much like the Wind, from which the Plane of Air was made of. She was much too wild and never seemed to settle. Korra developed a keen eye for things that were valuable and made a habit of always being aware of where those items were for every room she entered.

Korra came from one of the one of the Noble families of the Caliphim family; and her wandering eye, quick hands, and deep pockets were often an embarrassment to her father when she was caught.

She’d been rebellious against all of her father’s plans, and was a considerably wild child in her youth. Her royalty status and her thieving ways, however, made for a great connection to the criminal underworld. It was through there, that she began hearing of ancient relics being traded through the black market coming from the Prime Material Plane – items of ancient relic with old magic long forgotten by the ages.

She was present when a Couatl had called for an emergency meeting, gathering royal family members together. The Couatl, named Slyver, explained that species of elves known as “The Dark Elves” had somehow opened a portal into the Plane of Air ad captured Valinor, the Elder Air Temptest using ancient magic, having forged a Ring of Air Elemental Command – and that Slyver had heard from the other planes that the Phoenix had been captured from the Plane of Fire; Zaratan from the Plane of Earth, and Leviathan from the Plane of Water – and that they’d managed to capture several Elementals – changing them into Myrmidon – which are elementals, devoid of their previous life, bound to servitude. Slyver had heard from Gaia, from the Plane of Water, that she’d sent an agent by the name of Rettniss Kulvith to investigate – and that they should send one too.

Korra immediately stepped forward and volunteered herself. To her surprise, her father did not deny her the choice – instead he kept silent. She could not tell if it was because he was proud of her – or perhaps that her thieving ways would no longer be an embarrassment to him. Slyver nodded and agreed, sending Korra through a portal directly into the Shadow Realm – the home of the Dark Elves.
