Rex Jams is an unusual Bronze Dragonborn for his kind. Though most of his kind adopts the stronger, militant view of their dragon heritage, Rex Jams seems to have adopted the stronger side of his mortal heritage, in which he was more curious about the world.

As he walked the world of Tawaim, he found himself always drawn to local taverns. It was here, he would hear the heroic tales of other adventurers (undoubtedly some were over exaggerated in their retelling of the events). It was while he was in such a tavern that a local bard by the name of Hellius Twotone caught his attention.

The bard sat in the corner spinning endless tales of heroism; rarely about his own, but usually about others that he had met, and sometimes even travelled with. To enhance his story telling, Hellius used musical instruments to set the tone as he spoke.

This certainly appealed to the Bronze Dragon side of Rex, who appreciated the music. After Hellius was done singing the tales of heroes he had encountered, Rex approached him and asked to learn from him. Together, the Half-Elf, Hellius and Rex Jams traveled the land together; spending some nights beneath the skies, other nights, their tavern rooms paid for by the innkeeper who loved their music.

But Hellius kept on the move, not just because he liked to travel, but because he was heavily indebt to a human by the name of Gargin Blackmane; and one day, Gargin caught up to Hellius and demanded his money. When Hellius explained that he did not have the money, Gargin stabbed the Half-elf in the heart and left him to die, just as Rex came into the alley and saw his good friend crumple to the ground. Gargin and his men did not notice Rex had witnessed it, as he had been behind him. Rex knew that if he tried to take Gargin and his men, that he too would have been killed. When Gargin and his men left the alley, Rex rushed to his friend’s side and held him in his arms until Hellius’ life fled from his eyes.

Rex spent days following Gargin, and swearing that he would one day get his revenge. When news of the new continent surfaced, along with treasures being discovered, Gargin booked passage aboard the Wave Hammer, and so did Rex, hoping that either on the ship or on the new continent, he would be able to exact his revenge…
