  •  The party makes their way back down into the cavern beneath the Mother Tree once more
  • They encounter Orcs, Gnolls and even Ogres, all of which seem to be magically enslaved; the goblins seem to be mindlessly spiking long gems into the roots of the Mother Tree; those gems, which then go from green to black
  • The party begins destroying the gems, the mindless, enslaved goblins make no movement to stop them
  • Narrowly avoiding two opposing Ogres, one group appearing to be magically enslaved, the other, led by several Ogre Mages, seems to be free of the enslavement; the party makes their way around, avoiding all contact with the Ogres
  • They eventually make their way down, deep beneath the Mother Tree and find the Ashen elf, standing in a enchanted circle, siphoning the life from the Mother Tree, holding an orb in his hands (which seems to be the main channeling force)
  • The party moves forward to attack, only to discover several Driders defending the Ashen elf
  • The party engages the Driders, and with some difficulty, manages to defeat them
  • Rushing forward to attack the Ashen elf, they find that within the enchanted circle he is protected
  • The destroy the circle protecting the Ashen elf, then engage him
  • He bats them around, several times, using powerful magic
  • The party manages to knock the Orb from the Ashen elf’s hands, and Tenjii is able to successfully (with a great amount of luck!) launch her gnome tinkered net she had purchased at the Ivory Coast town
  • With her boots of Speed, she sped out of the room and out of the Ashen elf’s sight
  • Furious, the Ashen elf eventually teleported away
  • The party examines the orb, and sees it’s swirling mist of five colors; Black, Blue, Green, Red and White
  • The party senses great evil with the orb and puts it away, securely, in a bag
  • As they search further, they find a hidden cave that contains ancient elven text, that none of them are able to decipher. They gather the books and make their way out of the Mother Tree, where they’re greeted by a unicorn, who is none other than the druid, Aurora (it’s disguise), who had asked them for help
  • Aurora, the Unicorn, thanks them greatly for what they have done and offers them a clue as to how to defeat the Ashen Elf;
  • In the town of Varcele, look beyond the Water, and look for what you can not see. There you will find the Water Stone. For the Earth Stone, seek out the Lizard people of Goron’dall. Their sacred spear was taken from them by a vile creature; return it, and the Earth Stone will be given to you. For the Air Stone, seek out the Heavens, where the clouds home the giants; you will be given Wings when the time is right. For the Fire Gem, seek out Branstone, the Fire Giant deep beneath Rockhome. Once all four stones are found, seek me out again, and I will open the Portal to each place you must them go to get the Gem of each element. With the four gems completed, the final piece will be complete. But beware, to defeat the Ashen elf, will also require unleashing evil. You must be the one to decide which evil you can live with.
  • The party returned to the Ivory Coast town and waited for Alark Bloodhorn’s ship to return
  • During their wait, Ariana preached about her god, converting several former slaves to her religion
  • Luna also spend time among her people in the Ivory Coast, showing them such magic as shaping stone, in hopes that they can one day build better homes for themselves
  • Omen used his magic to trick innocent elves into believing a large stone he had found, was actually pure gold (using the spell Fool’s Gold)
  • Alark Bloodhorn returned, and true to his word, gave the party the crystal which supposedly allowed those who gaze through it to see if someone was a doppelganger or not
  • The party sailed back to King Saric, and suspecting her might be a doppelganger used the crystal ball on him; though he appeared quite normal
  • King Saric was disappointed to hear that the heroes had sided with Alark Bloodhorn and believed he was innocent
  • King Saric had no other job for the party, so the party began their trek towards Rockhome, in hopes of finding and defeating Branstone, the Fire Giant, and one way or another put an end to the Ashen Elf’s madness
